Department of Defense Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Workshop on Computing Education
(
Book
)
1 edition published in 2010 in English and held by 1 library worldwide One area in which the U.S. and DoD has a growing need for talent is in computer science. These STEM professionals play an important role in technologies, systems design, and software development. The Department of Labor has projected that in ten years, the demand for these STEM professionals will be 24 percent higher than it was in 2008. At the same time, we do not have a sufficient number of students seeking degrees in these fields, especially those that are female and are U.S. citizens. This is an important issue for DoD. We must rely on U.S. citizens for our workforce. Interventions proposed include implementing high-quality computer science education more actively at the high school level.
