Logica universalis towards a general theory of logic by Jean-Yves Béziau ( )
40 editions published between 2005 and 2007 in English and held by 1,164 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Universal Logic is not a new logic, but a general theory of logics, considered as mathematical structures. The name was introduced about ten years ago, but the subject is as old as the beginning of modern logic: Alfred Tarski and other Polish logicians such as Adolf Lindenbaum developed a general theory of logics at the end of the 1920s based on consequence operations and logical matrices. The subject was revived after the flowering of thousands of new logics during the last thirty years: there was a need for a systematic theory of logics to put some order in this chaotic multiplicity. This bo
Around and beyond the square of opposition by Jean-Yves Béziau ( )
12 editions published in 2012 in English and held by 357 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"The theory of oppositions based on Aristotelian foundations of logic has been pictured in a striking square diagram which can be understood and applied in many different ways having repercussions in various fields: epistemology, linguistics, mathematics, sociology, physics. The square can also be generalized in other two-dimensional or multi-dimensional objects extending in breadth and depth the original Aristotelian theory. The square of opposition is a very attractive theme which has been going through centuries without evaporating. Since 10 years there is a new growing interest for the square due to recent discoveries and challenging interpretations. This book presents a collection of previously unpublished papers by high level specialists of the square from all over the world." -- Publisher's website

Further, the DVD contains extracts of a square jazz show which was composed and presented for this occasion and extracts of the movie "The Square of Salomé". The movie, which was produced for this event, is a remake of the famous biblical story using the square to display the relations between the main characters
Institution-independent model theory by Răzvan Diaconescu ( )
2 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 15 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
A model theory that is independent of any concrete logical system allows a general handling of a large variety of logics. This generality can be achieved by applying the theory of institutions that provides a precise mathematical formulation for the intuitive concept of a logical system. Especially in computer science, where the development of a huge number of specification logics is observable, institution-independent model theory simplifies and sometimes even enables a concise model-theoretic analysis of the system. Besides incorporating important methods and concepts from conventional model theory, the proposed top-down methodology allows for a structurally clean understanding of model-theoretic phenomena. As a consequence, results from conventional concrete model theory can be understood more easily, and sometimes even new results are obtained

LES FORMES ABSTRAITES DE LA COMPLETUDE SONT ETUDIEES. ON MONTRE QUE LA SEMANTIQUE BIVALENTE CONSTITUEE PAR L'ENSEMBLE DES FONCTIONS CARACTERISTIQUES DES THEORIES EXCESSIVES EST UNE SEMANTIQUE COMPLETE MINIMALE POUR TOUTE LOGIQUE NORMALE COMPACTE. AU NIVEAU DE LA THEORIE LA NEGATION, ON MONTRE QUE DANS LA LOGIQUE INTUITIONNISTE IL Y A DES THEORIES EXCESSIVES NON MAXIMALES ET ON DEVELOPPE UNE NOUVELLE LOGIQUE PARACONSISTANTE, DANS LAQUELLE ON PEUT DEFINIR UNE RELATION DE CONGRUENCE, REPRESENTABLE PAR DES ALGEBRES MUNIES D'OPERATEURS NON MONOTONES. ON PROUVE QUE LES THEORIES EXCESSIVES RESPECTENT LES REGLES DES SYSTEMES DE SEQUENTS STRUCTURELLEMENT STANDARDS, ON APPLIQUE CE RESULTAT POUR AXIOMATISER CETTE NOUVELLE LOGIQUE PARACONSISTANTE POUR LAQUELLE ON PROUVE L'ELIMINATION DES COUPURES. ON DEVELOPPE ENSUITE UNE THEORIE DES CONNECTEURS ET ON PROUVE UN HAUPTSATZ GENERALISE
