Vector-valued Laplace transforms and Cauchy problems by Wolfgang Arendt( )

14 editions published between 2000 and 2013 in English and German and held by 667 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This monograph gives a systematic account of the theory of vector-valued Laplace transforms, ranging from representation theory to Tauberian theorems. In parallel, the theory of linear Cauchy problems and semigroups of operators is developed completely in the spirit of Laplace transforms. Existence and uniqueness, regularity, approximation and above all asymptotic behaviour of solutions are studied. Diverse applications to partial differential equations are given. The book contains an introduction to the Bochner integral and several appendices on background material. It is addressed to student

Operator semigroups meet complex analysis, harmonic analysis and mathematical physics by Wolfgang Arendt( )

14 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 302 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This proceedings volume originates from a conference held in Herrnhut in June 2013. It provides unique insights into the power of abstract methods and techniques in dealing successfully with numerous applications stemming from classical analysis and mathematical physics. The book features diverse topics in the area of operator semigroups, including partial differential equations, martingale and Hilbert transforms, Banach and von Neumann algebras, Schrödinger operators, maximal regularity and Fourier multipliers, interpolation, operator-theoretical problems (concerning generation, perturbation and dilation, for example), and various qualitative and quantitative Tauberian theorems with a focus on transfinite induction and magics of Cantor. The last fifteen years have seen the dawn of a new era for semigroup theory with the emphasis on applications of abstract results, often unexpected and far removed from traditional ones. The aim of the conference was to bring together prominent experts in the field of modern semigroup theory, harmonic analysis, complex analysis and mathematical physics, and to present the lively interactions between all of those areas and beyond. In addition, the meeting honored the sixtieth anniversary of Prof C.J.K. Batty, whose scientific achievements are an impressive illustration of the conference goal. These proceedings present contributions by prominent scientists at this international conference, which became a landmark event. They will be a valuable and inspiring source of information for graduate students and established researchers
Partielle Differenzialgleichungen : Eine Einführung in analytische und numerische Methoden by Wolfgang Arendt( )

12 editions published between 2010 and 2019 in German and English and held by 257 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mathematical analysis of evolution, information, and complexity by Wolfgang Arendt( )

15 editions published between 2008 and 2009 in English and held by 241 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mathematical Analysis of Evolution, Information, and Complexity deals with the analysis of evolution, information and complexity. The time evolution of systems or processes is a central question in science, this text covers a broad range of problems including diffusion processes, neuronal networks, quantum theory and cosmology. Bringing together a wide collection of research in mathematics, information theory, physics and other scientific and technical areas, this new title offers elementary and thus easily accessible introductions to the various fields of research addressed in the book
Nonlinear evolution equations and related topics : dedicated to Philippe Bénilan by Wolfgang Arendt( Book )

15 editions published in 2004 in English and German and held by 151 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Philippe Benilan was a most original and charismatic mathematician who had a deep and decisive impact on the theory of Nonlinear Evolution Equations. This present volume is dedicated to him and contains research papers written by highly distinguished mathematicians. They are all related to Benilan's work and reflect the present state of this most active field. The contributions cover a wide range of nonlinear and linear equations. Special topics include: Hamilton-Jacobi equations, the porous medium equation, reaction diffusion systems, integro-differential equations and visco-elasticity, maximal regularity for elliptic and parabolic equations, and the Ornstein Uhlenbeck operator. Also in this special volume, the legendary work of Benilan-Brezis on Thomas-Fermi Theory is published for the first time

Functional analysis and evolution equations : the Gunter Lumer volume by H Amann( )

10 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 21 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Günter Lumer was an outstanding mathematician whose work has great influence on the research community in mathematical analysis and evolution equations. He was at the origin of the breath-taking development the theory of semigroups saw after the pioneering book of Hille and Phillips of 1957. This volume contains invited contributions presenting the state of the art of these topics and reflecting the broad interests of Günter Lumer
Vector-valued laplace transforms and cauchy problems : second edition by Wolfgang Arendt( )

3 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 12 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

It is addressed to students and researchers interested in evolution equations, Laplace and Fourier transforms, and functional analysis. The authors have succeeded admirably in bringing together a wealth of recent material, much of which appears in book form for the first time. This authoritative work is likely to become a standard reference on both the Laplace transform and its applications to the abstract Cauchy problem. ... The book is an excellent textbook as well. Proofs are always transparent and complete, and many topics that could have been considered as background material are covered as well. All this makes the text very accessible and self-contained. Applications to concrete differential operators are given throughout the text. Each chapter ends with historical and bibliographical comments. ... In summary, this book will be of interest to a wide audience of (functional) analysts and it should have a place in every mathematics library. Warmly recommended!
