International Press Conference on Motives, Polylogarithms and Hodge Theory : University of California, Irvine, June 1998 by
Polylogarithms and Hodge Theory (1998, Irvine, Calif.) Conference on Motives(
Book
)
12 editions published in 2002 in English and held by 62 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The present volume contains papers of the participants in the International Press Conference on Motives, polylogarithms and nonabelian Hodge theory which took place at UC Irvine in June 1998. The conference commemorated The twentieth anniversary of the remarkable Irvine lectures of Spencer Bloch on "Higher regulators, algebraic Ktheory and zeta functions of elliptic curves". The conference presented some of the best recent research in algebraic Ktheory, Hodge theory, motivic cohomology and polylogarithms. The research program of the conference was organized around three main lecture series: VladimirVoevodsky taught a minicourse overviewing the recent developments in motivic cohomology and motivic homotopy theory; Don Zagier lectured on new results describing the periods of holomorphic and nonholomorphic modular forms; and Carlos Simpson lectured on the theory of geometric nstacks and its applications to the variational aspects of nonabelian Hodge theory

Birational geometry, rational curves, and arithmetic by
Fedor Bogomolov(
Book
)
11 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 29 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
¿¿¿¿This book features recent developments in a rapidly growing area at the interface of higherdimensional birational geometry and arithmetic geometry. It focuses on the geometry of spaces of rational curves, with an emphasis on applications to arithmetic questions. Classically, arithmetic is the study of rational or integral solutions of diophantine equations and geometry is the study of lines and conics. From the modern standpoint, arithmetic is the study of rational and integral points on algebraic varieties over nonclosed fields. A major insight of the 20th century was that arithmetic p

Stein small deformations of strictly pseudoconvex surfaces by
Fedor Bogomolov(
Book
)
2 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Abstract: "This article analyses the behaviour of analytic cycles on deformations of strictly pseudoconvex surfaces. As a preliminary result we show that a relatively compact strictly pseudoconvex surface is the union of two Stein open subsets. The main result of the article is that there is a small deformation of a minimal relatively compact strictly pseudoconvex surface that has no positive dimensional analytic cycles, hence is Stein. We also prove that a strictly pseudoconvex surface contains a semiregular 1dimensional cycle if it contains one 1dim cycle. In the last section the main result is applied to the study of contact structures of three dimensional manifolds."

Vector bundles by
Andrey Tjurin(
)
1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This is the first volume of a three volume collection of Andrey Nikolaevich Tyurin's Selected Works. It includes his most interesting articles in the field of classical algebraic geometry, written during his whole career from the 1960s. Most of these papers treat different problems of the theory of vector bundles on curves and higher dimensional algebraic varieties, a theory which is central to algebraic geometry and most of its applications

Finite energy foliations of convex sets in R4 by Umberto Leone Hryniewicz(
Book
)
1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
The foliations can be used to construct embeddings of certain symplectic 4manifolds into K, as well to construct embeddings of K into them. These manifolds are required to be foliated by symplectic disks or planes that intersect orthogonally in the symplectic sense. Examples are balls, ellipsoids, cylinders and polydisks. The constructed embeddings are not symplectic but are amenable to Moser isotopy. The conditions that allow such isotpies to exist long enough will classify symplectic capacities on convex subsets of (R4,o0)
