Jim 's father has died and his oldest brother, Levi, is running things. Anxious to claim land out West that has been promised to war veterans, Jim leaves home, only to be followed by his youngest brother, Will, who sneaks away to head out on the National Road. Adding intrigue, Will comes to the rescue of Olivia, a spoiled rich girl, and her recently widowed mother. This amazing true adventure climaxes on a trip down the Mississippi, with Will bartering wild turkeys as a commodity with the Europeans in New Orleans while Olivia becomes "Oliver" for the boat trip
