Convolution equations and singular integral operators : selected papers of Israel Gohberg and Georg Heinig, Israel Gohberg
and Nahum Krupnik by
Leonid Lerer(
Book
)
13 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 77 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This volume contains English translations of 13 groundbreaking papers on Toeplitz matrices and WienerHopf equations and other classes of discrete and continuous convolution operators and singular integral equations. The papers are both of theoretical and numerical interest. In particular, the papers examine fast algorithms for inversion of these operators, the theory of discrete and continuous resultants, inversion via factorization, and symbol construction. Originally the papers were written in Russian more than thirty years ago; their English translation is published here for the first time. These papers solved difficult problems and opened new venues in the abovementioned areas. They are still frequently quoted, and moreover, they exert a continuing influence on numerical analysis and other areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Engineering. The book is addressed to a wide audience of mathematicians and engineers, from graduate students to researchers, whose interests lie in the abovementioned areas

Recent advances in matrix and operator theory by
Joseph A Ball(
)
10 editions published between 2007 and 2008 in English and held by 18 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This book expands the lectures given at IWOTA'05 (International Workshop on Operator Theory and Applications) which was held at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, USA, July 2427, 2005. Many developments on the cutting edge of research in operator theory, matrix theory, coding theory, system theory, control theory and numerical linear algebra are reflected in this collection of original articles. The volume is of a crossdisciplinary nature. A number of papers are devoted to the analysis and algorithms for matrices with quasiseparable structure which is an active area of concurrent research in numerical linear algebra

Numerical linear algebra in signals, systems and control by
Paul van Dooren(
)
6 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The purpose of Numerical Linear Algebra in Signals, Systems and Control is to present an interdisciplinary book, blending linear and numerical linear algebra with three major areas of electrical engineering: Signal and Image Processing, and Control Systems and Circuit Theory. Numerical Linear Algebra in Signals, Systems and Control will contain articles, both the stateoftheart surveys and technical papers, on theory, computations, and applications addressing significant new developments in these areas. The goal of the volume is to provide authoritative and accessible accounts of the fastpaced developments in computational mathematics, scientific computing, and computational engineering methods, applications, and algorithms. The stateoftheart surveys will benefit, in particular, beginning researchers, graduate students, and those contemplating to start a new direction of research in these areas. A more general goal is to foster effective communications and exchange of information between various scientific and engineering communities with mutual interests in concepts, computations, and workable, reliable practices
