Convolution equations and singular integral operators : selected papers of Israel Gohberg and Georg Heinig, Israel Gohberg and Nahum Krupnik by Leonid Lerer( Book )

12 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 73 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume contains English translations of 13 groundbreaking papers on Toeplitz matrices and Wiener-Hopf equations and other classes of discrete and continuous convolution operators and singular integral equations. The papers are both of theoretical and numerical interest. In particular, the papers examine fast algorithms for inversion of these operators, the theory of discrete and continuous resultants, inversion via factorization, and symbol construction. Originally the papers were written in Russian more than thirty years ago; their English translation is published here for the first time. These papers solved difficult problems and opened new venues in the above-mentioned areas. They are still frequently quoted, and moreover, they exert a continuing influence on numerical analysis and other areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Engineering. The book is addressed to a wide audience of mathematicians and engineers, from graduate students to researchers, whose interests lie in the above-mentioned areas
Matrix methods : theory, algorithms and applications : dedicated to the memory of Gene Golub( Book )

11 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 72 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The soul of the meeting was Gene Golub, who rendered a charming "Golub's dimension" to the three main axes of the conference topics. This volume is dedicated in gratitude to his memory. --Book Jacket
Recent advances in matrix and operator theory by Joseph A Ball( )

7 editions published between 2007 and 2008 in English and held by 19 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book expands the lectures given at IWOTA'05 (International Workshop on Operator Theory and Applications) which was held at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, USA, July 24-27, 2005. Many developments on the cutting edge of research in operator theory, matrix theory, coding theory, system theory, control theory and numerical linear algebra are reflected in this collection of original articles. The volume is of a cross-disciplinary nature. A number of papers are devoted to the analysis and algorithms for matrices with quasiseparable structure which is an active area of concurrent research in numerical linear algebra
Numerical methods for structured matrices and applications : the Georg Heinig memorial volume by Dario Bini( Book )

4 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 17 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This cross-disciplinary volume brings together theoretical mathematicians, engineers and numerical analysts and publishes surveys and research articles related to the topics where Georg Heinig had made outstanding achievements. In particular, this includes contributions from the fields of structured matrices, fast algorithms, operator theory, and applications to system theory and signal processing
Structured matrices in mathematics, computer science, and engineering : proceedings of an AMS-IMS-SIAM joint Summer Research Conference, University of Colorado, Boulder, June 27 - July 1, 1999 by computer science, and engineering Joint summer research conference on structured matrices in mathematics( Book )

Numerical linear algebra in signals, systems and control by Paul van Dooren( )

4 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The purpose of Numerical Linear Algebra in Signals, Systems and Control is to present an interdisciplinary book, blending linear and numerical linear algebra with three major areas of electrical engineering: Signal and Image Processing, and Control Systems and Circuit Theory. Numerical Linear Algebra in Signals, Systems and Control will contain articles, both the state-of-the-art surveys and technical papers, on theory, computations, and applications addressing significant new developments in these areas. The goal of the volume is to provide authoritative and accessible accounts of the fast-paced developments in computational mathematics, scientific computing, and computational engineering methods, applications, and algorithms. The state-of-the-art surveys will benefit, in particular, beginning researchers, graduate students, and those contemplating to start a new direction of research in these areas. A more general goal is to foster effective communications and exchange of information between various scientific and engineering communities with mutual interests in concepts, computations, and workable, reliable practices
