1 edition published in 1994 in Undetermined and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Adam Smith is generally ignored as a trade theorist in textbooks of international economics because of the common belief that he only confirmed the rule of absolute advantages to explain structure of foreign trade. However, his vent-for-surplus approach may be interpreted as a pioneering study which stresses the importance of economies-of-scale in explaining the structure of trade. This short paper addresses to the undeniable influence of Smith's concepts such as "extent of the market", "division of labor", "improved dexterity in every particular workman" and "simple inventions coming from workman" on trade theory

1 edition published in 2011 in Undetermined and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The sovereign debt crisis that deepened within the last three years in particular Eurozone countries makes up one of the major components of the current global economic crisis (2006-2011) which were briefly described in Kibritçioğlu (2011). In this follow-up study, the historical and political origins of the debt crisis in EU countries, such as Ireland, Greece and Portugal, are analyzed with particular reference to the academic discussions during the final forming process of the European Monetary Union and the introduction of the euro as a single currency in the late 1990s. Finally, the study also focuses on EU's (possible/remaining) policy options to solve the ongoing debt crisis

2006-2011 Küresel Ekonomik Krizinin Bileşenleri ve Karmaşıklığı by Aykut Kibritçioğlu( )

1 edition published in 2011 in Undetermined and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

In this short paper, it is mainly argued that the current global economic crisis (2006-2011) consists not only of the US financial crisis of 2006-2007 which has been globalized since fall 2008. The world economy has also been hit by the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis, rising energy prices, two successive food crises, increases in poverty and hunger, and severe ecological problems within a very short period of time since 2006. All of these components are closely linked to each other, so that they increase the complexity of the current crisis that is still persisting, although their relative contributions are continuously changing with the passing time
