On November 17, 1981, the Michigan History Division sponsored its annual Commission Day with the focus being on former chief executives of the state. One of the highlights of this affair was a panel interview of the four past Michigan governors before an audience at the Kellogg auditorium. A tape recording of this exchange, and a transcript, constitutes the material in folder one. Before this collective session during Commission Day, it was decided to have a qualified person interview each ex-governor individually. David L. Lewis was given this assignment, and during the months of September thru November of 1981, he met with the four men being honored to discuss their political careers. The tapes of these recollections, and transcripts of the remarks, are included in the remaining folders
