Alston Glenn collection of Herbert Creecy papers by Herbert Creecy( )

in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This collection centers on Herbert Lee Creecy Jr.'s career as an artist in Georgia between 1964 and 2003, and the continued proliferation of his artwork after his death, through exhibitions and publications. There are three accordion folders created from three binders of materials, each representing from 1 to 1.5 decades of Creecy's lifetime (1964-1980, 1981-1990, 1991-2003). They contain newspaper and magazine articles, exhibition invitations/announcements and catalogues, resumes and biographies, and pictures of Creecy, his Barnesville, Ga., studio, and friends and family. A fourth folder of materials was created from a group of materials which appear to have been earmarked for a fourth binder. These materials contained personal documents, obituaries, and wills, ID's, organ donor cards and health information, and are mostly concerned with the period around the end of the artist's life. They include correspondence from Herbert Creecy, and Teresa Rodreguez to Alston Glenn, documents relating to several projects such as the Coloring the 90's and Beyond Promotional Project, The Stecker Video, Who's Who in America, and copies of resumes updated throughout his career. There are some newspaper articles dating from earlier in his career as well. In addition to the many photographs of Creecy at work and enjoying life, are personal records showing glimpses of his close relationships with friends such as the Glenn family. Included here are baptismal records for Creecy as godparent to Alston Glenn's children, a High School reunion certificate, Atlanta College of Art Award images and program, and his father's driver's license
