Ever wondered what it really takes to succeed in life? Those who have achieved their own success in life know that following the path of luck and chance is full of dead ends, failed journeys and disappointments. Success is a result of application and effort. What enables successful people to achieve their desired goals and more where so many others have come up short is their strength of mind, their strength of self and the simple clarity with which they see life. THE POWER WITHIN shares the insights from two very different successful people. One, a living legend who has harnessed this power to create an extraordinary life and the other who as a result of many years spent understanding how to access his potential and then teaching this to others has been able to transform his own life in a profound way
The pros : the forgotten heroes of tennis by Peter J Underwood( Book )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In The Pros: The Forgotten Heroes of Tennis, author Peter Underwood explains why professional players were forced into what was often called a 'travelling circus', where these sporting outcasts played each other during long and rather tatty tours taking them all over the world. Focussing on the eight champions who dominated the Pro Era - beginning in 1930 with the ultimately tragic figure of Big Bill Tilden -- the book follows each Pro Champion until the era's end in 1968 with Rod The Rocket Laver, great and young enough to dominate the new Open Era. Underwood's book is more than just history: his colourful depictions of ruthless battles among the pros for prize money and status of top dog, offer unique insight into the virtuoso's journey towards mastery of their craft, and the fascinating intersection between personality, background and individual style. The Pros is a significant work about a forgotten but seminal era of tennis, and the brave men who, against the odds and entrenched prejudice, fought to become supreme masters of the game

Newk : life on and off the court by John Newcombe( )

2 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

John Newcombe has always been more than a tennis legend. He is an Australian icon. As a player, he was the world number one, a multiple Wimbledon, US and Australian Champion, a fighter who would push himself to the limit and beyond to win. Yet he never (or almost never) lost his sense of humour or fun. When Newk was on court, even in to-the-death battles with John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors, you could tell he loved playing the game, and that made watching him all the more enjoyable. He's friends with US presidents and media tycoons (George Bush once famously described him as a 'black-belt beer drinker', his son George W. had one too many with Newk on the night he was arrested for drink driving, Rupert Murdoch bought Ansett and Channel 10 between sets of tennis with him), yet he's also at home in the pub having a beer or three with his mates. He's a larrikin, but he's also a hugely successful businessman in his own right. He's always enjoyed a party, but cares passionately about his family and his country. Above all he is a brilliant raconteur, and his memoirs are simply unputdownable, filled with gripping tennis drama, deep insights into life, and above all a humour and warmth that Newk's millions of fans will instantly recognise
