In the book I Don't Have a Favourite Colour, Hella Jongerius describes her method of research and the application of its results to the Vitra product portfolio
New wave clay : ceramic design, art and architecture by Tom Morris( Book )

1 edition published in 2018 in English and held by 38 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Throughout the twentieth century, ceramics was broadly divided into two sectors. Studio pottery, which was a reaction against the mass-made wares of the industrial revolution, and fine art by contemporary artists, who just happened to use clay in their practice but rejected many of its traditional codes of practice. The unprecedented surge in popularity of ceramics in the last five years has helped forge a new type of potter: the ceramic designer. Part-craftsman, part designer, they bridge ceramic craft, collectible design, and fine art. These ceramicists include product designers who use clay as a means of creative expression, and classically trained potters who create design-led pieces, in addition to interior decorators, illustrators, and graphic designers. Their collective output includes furniture, decorative objects, murals, and vessels: not art, not craft, but design. The ambition of the book is to show the diversity of this area of creative production and the way in which history, craft, technology, and design are all intersecting in the present day, creating a new type of designer--and a new type of ceramicist. The book is divided into four thematic chapters and accompanied by written contributions on the subject from designers, decorators, and collectors."--

The book is part of the exhibition 'Tangible Traces' - designed by Jurgen Bey, which will take place from the 4 December 2009 until 28 February 2010, at the Museum of Modern Art in Arnhem

Objectified by Gary Hustwit( Visual )

1 edition published in 2009 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. In his second film, director Gary Hustwit (Helvetica) documents the creative processes of some of the world's most influential product designers, and looks at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. Objectified is about the people who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It is also about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability. What can we learn about who we are, and who we want to be, from the objects with which we surround ourselves."--Back cover

Design and art by Alex Coles( Book )

1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This reader in Whitechapel's Documents of Contemporary Art series investigates the interchange between art and design. Since the the Pop and Minimalist eras--as the work of artists ranging from Andy Warhol to Dan Graham demonstrates--the traditional boundaries between art and architectural, graphic, and product design have dissolved in critically significant ways. Design and Art traces the rise of the "design-art" phenomenon through the writings of critics and practitioners active in both fields. The texts include writings by Paul Rand, Hal Foster, Miwon Kwon, and others that set the parameters of the debate; utopian visions, including those of architect Peter Cook and writer Douglas Coupland; project descriptions by artists (among them Tobias Rehberger and Jorge Pardo) juxtaposed with theoretical writings; surveys of group practices by such collectives as N55 and Superflex; and views of the artist as mediator--a role assumed in the past to be the province of the designer--as seen in work by Frederick Kiesler, Ed Ruscha, and others. Finally, a book that doesn't privilege either the art world or the design world but puts them in dialogue with each other
