Divine shadows by Dhafer Youssef( Recording )

16 editions published in 2006 in 6 languages and held by 39 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Diwan of beauty and odd by Dhafer Youssef( Recording )

14 editions published in 2016 in 4 languages and held by 33 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Dhafer Youssef, a native of Teboulba, Tunisia, makes his Oud groove like no one else. He has given us here a magnificent album, full of subtlety and emotion. We are betting that this pure musical creation becomes a reference point and enters the pantheon of classics. His voice is incredibly instrumental and hits you right in the heart, with its spellbinding Eastern melodies mingled with the finest Jazz. For sure, Dhafer knew what he was doing by choosing to record in New York with the best among the younger generation of jazz musicians: Mark Giuliana - drums, Ben Williams - bass, Ambrose Akinmusire - trumpet and Aaron Parks - piano. Symbiosis and perfect balance between Sufi songs, the sound of the Oud and this fabulous 100% Jazz quartet. This is the charm of what we call "the other Colors of Jazz", and in this case it appeals to audiences of all ages. You can feel a lot of precision there, a perfect mastery of instruments, and particularly the "interplay" that is the signature of the most successful musical projects

Glow by Dhafer Youssef( Recording )

6 editions published between 2007 and 2010 in 3 languages and held by 18 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Which Way Music proudly releases this wonderful collaboration between two ever-growing musical wanderers. Dhafer Youssef is a Tunisian-born, Paris-based oud player and vocalist who has steadily integrated his Sufi traditions into a global tapestry of jazz, ambient and pop music via an acclaimed series of albums on Enja, and Universal. Wolfgang Muthspiel, hailed from a young age as one of the finest jazz guitarists of his era, has played with Dave Liebman, Peter Erskine, Paul Motian, Gary Peacock, and many more. He has also recorded and toured Australia with the MGT Guitar trio alongside Slava Grigoryan and Ralph Towner. On Glow, Muthspiel weaves sinewy, subtletapestries in support of Youssef's oud and particularly his extraordinary, multi-octave voice. Further support is provided by the legendary trumpeter and flugelhornist Tom Harrell, drummer Alegre Correa and bassist Matthias Pinchler. Glow is is a largely improvised, timeless recording that will appeal to admirers of Miles Davis, Joe Zawinul, Anouar Brahem, Jan Garbarek and other musical free spirits
