Etats imaginés = imagined states by Eric Baudelaire( Book )

5 editions published in 2005 in French and held by 28 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mixing personal stories, political history, revolutionary propaganda and film theory, artist Eric Baudelaire illuminates the idealism and radicalism of left-wing extremist movements of the 1970s by interweaving the stories of two of its protagonists. May Shigenobu, daughter of the founder of the Japanese Red Army, and Masao Adachi, the revered Japanese director who gave up cinema to take up arms

In 1967, following the success of Blow Up, Michelangelo Antonioni planned to shoot his next film in Japan. The project never happened ("Zabriskie Point" was made instead), but Antonioni published his ideas for the film. This fascinating documentary remakes Antonioni's lost film through photographs, real life anecdotes and correspondences

Anabases by Eric Baudelaire( Book )

5 editions published in 2014 in English and French and held by 14 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book is not for reading, but for wandering. Its lines do not roll out continously but superimpose each other to infinity, creating not a compendium of knowledge but a web of prescience.

"The billposter descends the stairs of the Porte d'Erewhon metro station, approaches a large billboard filled with a deep blue poster, and begins pasting up an image of a generic car located in an anonymous Parisian street."--Onestar Press website, viewed on 11/15/12
Letters to max by Eric Baudelaire( Visual )

4 editions published between 2014 and 2018 in English and French and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"What is the job of a diplomat for a country that does not exist? With this question, ... filmmaker Eric Baudelaire initiates a wide-ranging correspondence with his friend Maxim Gvinjia, former Minister of Foreign Affairs for Abkhazia, a country with physical borders, a government, and its own flag, but has not been recognized as a nation. ... Eric Baudelaire, director of The Makes and The Anabasis, sets in motion a ... discussion with Max through a series of short letters. Each letter poses a question - about Max's political career, about his country, about the war, about life after the war - which Max answers on the film's soundtrack, illustrated by ... impressionistic images of the place itself. It is a ... conversation about an isolated conflict that has come to be viewed less of an anomaly, and more of a precursor in this post-cold war landscape, particularly in Ukraine."--Container

The music of Ramón Raquello and his orchestra & other stories by Eric Baudelaire( Book )

3 editions published in 2017 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Music of Ramón Raquello and his Orchestra is the largest monographic presentation of the work of Eric Baudelaire to date, including his latest feature length film Also Known As Jihadi (2017). Baudelaire's oeuvre has ceaselessly and open-endedly engaged with histories of images, cinema, radical militancy, and violence by or against the state. Spanning over a decade of artistic production across installation, print, photography and film, the exhibition follows his sustained attempts to find a form that accommodates the catastrophic complexity of contemporary life. The exhibition draws on a reoccurring leitmotif in Baudelaire's work, that of the return. Here, historical trajectories become looping re-visitations rendered both through the art works themselves and ghosted through their spatial realization. Exhibition: WItte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam, The Netherlands (27.01.-21.05.2017) / Tabakalera Center for Contemporary Culture, Donostia / San Sebastián, Spain (23.06.-15.10.2017)

Modern monsters. Death and life of fiction. Reader of the Taipei Biennial( Book )

1 edition published in 2014 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Taowu, a mythological Chinese monster symbolizing ignorance, has been revived recently by historians and writers to illustrate the violent arc of Chinese utopian modernity. Taowu brings unheard of evils and sufferings to man, undermining humanity in favor of financial gain. This publication, generated by a monumental exhibition at the 2012 Taipei Biennial, and curated by noted cultural critic Anselm Franke, uses this mythological Chinese figure as the starting point for a series of essays addressing the current crisis. Modern Monsters functions as a conceptual and theoretical reader in conversation with the exhibition and deeply controversial subject. Comprised of 23 essays the book includes original contributions from the curators and editors Anselm Franke and Brian Kuan Wood along with Taiwanese literary historian David Der-Wei Wang. Other contributors are Nabil Ahmed, Eric Baudelaire, Chen Chieh-Jen Li, Hu Fang, Mark Fisher, James T. Hong, Henri Lefebvre, Masao Matsuda, Ian Svenonius, Sophie Wahnich and many more

Letters to Max by Eric Baudelaire( Book )

1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Tiré du site Internet http://baudelaire.net/secession/letters-to-max/ : "Abkhazia is something of a paradox: a country that exists, in the physical sense of the word (a territory with borders, a government, a flag, a language), yet it has no legal existence because for almost twenty years it was not recognized by any other nation state. And so Abkhazia exists without existing, caught in a liminal space, a space in between realities. Which is why my first letter to Max was something of a message in a bottle thrown at sea."
