Modern geometric structures and fields by S. P Novikov( Book )

14 editions published between 2006 and 2012 in English and held by 245 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Presents the basics of Riemannian geometry in its modern form as geometry of differentiable manifolds and the important structures on them. This book shows that Riemannian geometry has a great influence to several fundamental areas of modern mathematics and its applications
Lectures on differential geometry by I. A Taĭmanov( Book )

12 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 168 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This book gives an introduction to the basics of differential geometry, keeping in mind the natural origin of many geometrical quantities, as well as the applications of differential geometry and its methods to other sciences." "The book is based on lectures the author held repeatedly at Novosibirsk State University. It is addressed to students as well as to anyone who wants to learn the basics of differential geometry."--Jacket

Topological library by S. P Novikov( Book )

14 editions published in 2012 in English and Undetermined and held by 20 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The final volume of the three-volume edition, this book features classical papers on algebraic and differential topology published in the 1950s-1960s. The partition of these papers among the volumes is rather conditional. The original methods and constructions from these works are properly documented for the first time in this book. No existing book covers the beautiful ensemble of methods created in topology starting from approximately 1950. That is, from Serre's celebrated "singular homologies of fiber spaces.". Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Singular homology of fiber spaces - Introduction)

Topological library Part 2, Characteristic classes and smooth structures on manifolds( Book )

10 editions published between 2007 and 2010 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This is the second of a three-volume set collecting the original and now-classic works in topology written during the 1950s-1960s. The original methods and constructions from these works are properly documented for the first time in this book. No existing book covers the beautiful ensemble of methods created in topology starting from approximately 1950, that is, from Serre's celebrated "singular homologies of fiber spaces."

The type numbers of closed geodesics by I. A Taĭmanov( )

1 edition published in 2010 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The seminal book [44] by M. Morse had put (together with the treatise by Lusternik and Schnirelmann [42]) the foundations for applying topological methods to variational problems. Writing this appendix to its Russian translation we had no intention to survey wide applications of the Morse theory but wanted to complement the text by clarifications of some statements related to the type numbers of closed geodesics. The foundations of what is called now the Morse theory together with their first applications are exposed in Chapters 17
