Lygia Clark : the abandonment of art, 1948-1988 by Cornelia H Butler( Book )

6 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 284 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The Museum of Modern Art presents a major retrospective devoted to the art of Lygia Clark (Brazilian, 1920-1988), the first comprehensive exhibition in North America of her work. Lygia Clark: The Abandonment of Art, 1948-1988 comprises nearly 300 works made between the late 1940s and her death in 1988. Drawn from public and private collections, including MoMA's own, this survey is organized around three key themes: abstraction, Neo-Concretism, and the 'abandonment' of art. Each of these axes anchors a significant concept or a constellation of works that mark a definitive step in Clark's career. While Clark's legacy in Brazil is profound, this exhibition draws international attention to her work. By bringing together all parts of her radical production, the exhibition seeks to reintroduce her into current discourses of abstraction, participation, and a therapeutic art practice."
Novas : selected writings by Haroldo de Campos( Book )

2 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 178 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A generous introduction to one of the key literary figures to emerge from Brazil in the second half of the twentieth century, this book offers English-speaking readers an ample selection of this prodigious writer's celebrated poetry and widely influential critical work. As a poet and as a cofounder of the renowned group Noigandres, Haroldo de Campos made a unique and substantial contribution to the theory and practice of experimental writing, particularly the form known as concrete poetry, and to the Latin American avant-garde as a whole. --Northwestern University Press

Beyond the supersquare : art and architecture in Latin America after modernism by Antonio Sergio Bessa( Book )

12 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 147 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Beyond the Supersquare: Art and Architecture in Latin America after Modernism, which developed from a symposium presented by the Bronx Museum of the Arts in 2011, showcases original essays by distinguished Latin American architects, historians, and curators whose research examines architecture and urban design practices in the region during a significant period of the twentieth century. Drawing from the exuberant architectural projects of the 1940s to the 1960s, as well as from critically engaged artistic practices of the present day, the essays in this collection reveal how the heroic visions and utopian ideals popular in architectural discourse during the modernist era bore complicated legacies for Latin America--e consequences of which are evident in the vastly uneven economic conditions and socially disparate societies found throughout the region today"--Page 4 of cover

Poesia viva : Paulo Bruscky by Paulo Bruscky( Book )

1 edition published in 2015 in English and held by 44 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Paulo Roberto Barbosa Bruscky (b. Recife 1949) is a multimedia artist and poet. Bruscky, long considered a pioneer in mail art and Xerox art, has always stated that "poeisis" is at the core of his extremely diverse practice. A rebel poet of sorts, he has continuously sought to question the status quo through his art a thoroughly political aspiration during years of military dictatorship. Through a unique selection of Brusckyœs works, carefully chosen by editor Antonio Sergio Bessa and the artist, this volume shows the poetic basis of Brusckyœs longstanding interests in the metalinguistic and the performative, and explores Brusckyœs artistic debt to concrete poetry, and more specifically to the experimental work of the Brazilian Poema/Processo movement and the Poesia Práxis group. Paulo Bruscky: Poesia Viva investigates the poetic process and sensibility across five decades of Brusckyœs work

Double space( Book )

1 edition published in 2000 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In writing, the expression 'double space' is used to define the maximum standard distance between two lines in a text. Poetically, though, the term is rich in ambiguities due to the intrinsic power of the words 'double' and 'space.' The exhibition explores the ideas related to space in text, the architectural properties of writing, and the concept of text as a construction."--Http://www.apexart.org/exhibitions/bessa.htm
