A seasonal quantitative study of plankton and a survey of profundal benthic macroinvertebrates were conducted during the open water period in Grander Lake, Newfoundland. Plankton samples were collected at three stations at selected depths ranging from the surface down to 250 m. This examination of plankton and benthic organisms in Gander Lake evolved as an adjunct to ongoing ecosystem based studies of fish populations, to augment other information collected on the feeding ecology and trophic relationships of Arctic charr. This report describes the research area, materials and methodology, and presents the results and fields for further discussion
