Intrigue and adventure novel centered on the adventures of two young idealists seeking to save the American Indians on the Galician Coast. The fleet of Gold, the best of the Spanish navy at the time, had come to Spain loaded with the treasures of the Spanish colonies in the Indies, but sinks in the bay of Vigo because of harassment of the Lutheran troops and natural reefs. Havana bring the treasures of the colonies, including and secretly, 20 Renaissance fabrics priceless Felipe V wants to recover from his collection and that the Inquisition wants to destroy represent pleasures and female nudes. Two of them are of Tintoretto and Titian. The young surgeon Alvaro Davalos and his close friend Toledano called the guard. After the shipwreck and knowing itself persecuted by the Dominicans they hide one in the monastery of Armenteira, and travel with the rest to Venice to get fakes and financed sale a kind of native falansterio in America, to defend the Indians from the abuse and exploitation of the Empire, where Alvaro was happy and where the woman he loves still alive. Davalos and they play Toledano life; Davalos falls in love with a great lady abused and imprisoned by his own brother, and ends in the pozzi, the dreaded dungeons of the Inquisition in the Serenissima, because of the lady and fabrics. A risky escape plan Toledano him out of there, with the connivance of the Spanish ambassador contradictory and with the help of a grateful patient who prove to be the future great musician Antonio Vivaldi, but only one of the fakes. His Venetian beloved dies in prison
