Bittersweet by Kasey Chambers( Recording )

2 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 66 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The music of Kasey Chambers nowadays feels almost as intrinsic to this country as Vegemite and Australia will be happy to know that the singer, songwriter and storyteller will release her tenth studio album and first solo record in four years, 'Bittersweet'. Produced by American Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, The Wallflowers, Powderfinger, The Living End) at Studios 301 in Byron Bay, 'Bittersweet' is something of a departure for Kasey from the "expected". Signifying a new phase in her exciting and expansive career, 'Bittersweet' sees Kasey enter the studio without her producer/ manager/ brother and good luck charm Nash Chambers for the first time. Pulling together a superb studio band to record the album, 'Bittersweet' features Bernard Fanning on acoustic guitar, keyboard, piano, background vocals and lead vocals on the title track; Ashleigh Dallas on banjo, fiddle, mandolin and background vocals; Dan Kelly on electric and acoustic guitar and background vocals; Matthew Engelbrecht on bass and flugal horn and Declan Kelly on drums, percussion and vibes, Bill Chambers contributes background vocals. Sticking to her trademark no-nonsense live recording style, Kasey and the band recorded the album in just 7 days in April 2014. While title track "Bittersweet" harks back to the ballsy, alternative country rock that flavoured seven times platinum selling 'Barricades & Brickwalls', it also delivers some brand new soundscapes for the exquisite song-writing and irresistible voice of one of Australia's most gifted and enduring talents. 'Bittersweet' is again testament to the songwriting talents of an artist who has won 10 APRA Awards (she holds the record for the highest awarded solo APRA Songwriter in Australia across 10 studio albums), 10 ARIA Awards, 20 Golden Guitar Awards and nominations for 2 Americana Music Awards
Tea & sympathy by Bernard Fanning( Recording )

7 editions published in 2005 in 3 languages and held by 57 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in the UK by Tchad Blake (Crowded House, Pearl Jam, Gomez), Tea & Sympathy sees Bernard crossing the country-rock bridge with what he describes as a 'porch record'. The bulk of Tea & Sympathy was written by Bernard at his Brisbane residence over the last twelve months and features Melbourne multi-instrumentalist John Bedggood, who Bernard first met when they worked together on the 'Ned Kelly' film. Bernard co-produced the fourteen tracks featured on Tea & Sympathy and as well as singing he played guitar, keyboards, harmonica and percussion
Departures by Bernard Fanning( Recording )

3 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Penned in Spain and recorded in Los Angeles' Sunset Sound studio alongside producer Joe Chiccarelli, Fanning's second studio album is set to follow in the success of his past triumphs in the music scene. Revered, regarded and just plain loved, Bernard Fanning has long been at the forefront of Australian rock music. But never before has he been seen quite like this. New single 'Battleships' sees Fanning emerge in a seething wall of sound, doused in falsetto, growling guitars and throaty horns. The album follows the overwhelming success of 5x platinum Tea & Sympathy, selling over 350K units Australia wide, with its debut at #1 on the ARIA charts. Fanning has wrapped up 4x ARIA Awards for Album of the Year, Best Male Artist, Best Music Video and Best Cover Art, as well as 2x APRA Awards for Songwriter of the Year (2006) and Most Performed Blues & Roots Work (2007). He took the #1 title for his hit 'Wish You Well' in 2006 on Triple J's Hottest 100, toured sold out shows across Australia 3 times, and even broke into the US territory. With the past success of mega-star Rock group POWDERFINGER, who on their last ever tour sold excess of 300k tickets across 34 shows in 21 cities, have 18x ARIA Awards, 3x APRA awards, an ASTRA Award, a HELLPMAN Award, 5x #1 ARIA debut Albums, 2x #1 ARIA Debut DVDs, multi-platinum albums and have sold over 2.5million records in Australia, it is without a doubt that the continuance of Fanning's solo career with his second studio album DEPARTURES will prove to be yet another record breaking release. For Fanning, the album is a departure in every sense of the word; a move almost in defiance of his Powderfinger roots and the acoustic sensibilities so clearly displayed on Tea & Sympathy. Leaving behind homeland Australia, and all its creature comforts, Fanning penned 'Battleships' in Spain before recording at Los Angeles' renowned Sunset Sound (Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, Neil Young) with producer Joe Chiccarelli (The Raconteurs, Augie March, My Morning Jacket)
