In 2013, biologist Dr. Brian Hooker received a call from a Senior Scientist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who led the agency's 2004 study on the Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccine and its link to autism. The scientist, Dr. William Thompson, confessed that the CDC had omitted crucial data in their final report that revealed a causal relationship between the MMR vaccine and autism. Over several months, Dr. Hooker records the phone calls made to him by Dr. Thompson who provides the confidential data destroyed by his colleagues at the CDC

A high protein diet at the upper end of the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range (AMDR) leads to kidney glomerular damage in normal female Sprague-Dawley rats by Andrew J Wakefield( )

2 editions published between 2007 and 2008 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In setting the AMDR for protein at 10-35% of daily energy, the Institute of Medicine acknowledged a lack of data regarding the safety of long-term intakes. The current study assessed the impact of chronic (17 months) protein consumption at the upper end of the AMDR on renal function, histology, and inflammation. Using plant and animal whole protein sources, female Sprague-Dawley rats (70 days old; n=8-11 at 4, 8, 12, or 17 mo.) were randomized to either a normal (NP; 15% of energy) or high protein (HP; 35% of energy) diet. Egg albumen and skim milk replaced carbohydrates in the HP diet. Diets were balanced for energy, fat, vitamins and minerals, and offered ad libitum. Renal function was analyzed by creatinine clearance and urinary protein levels. Glomerular hypertrophy, glomerulosclerosis and tubulointerstitial fibrosis were assessed on kidney sections. Kidney disease progression was determined by the measurement of transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-?1) and renal inflammation by the measurement of chemokines monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and regulated upon activation normal T-cell expressed and secreted (RANTES). Rats consuming the HP compared to NP diet had ~17% higher kidney weights (P<0.0001) and ~4.8 times higher proteinuria (P<0.0001). There was a trend towards higher creatinine clearance with HP (P=0.055). Consistent with this, HP compared to NP rats had ~22% larger glomeruli (P<0.0001) and ~33% more glomerulosclerosis (P=0.0003). The HP diet had no significant effect on tubulointerstitial fibrosis and renal TGF-?1 levels and did not result in higher renal levels of MCP-1 and RANTES. In fact, per mg renal protein, HP rats had ~16% lower MCP-1 (P<0.0001) and ~34% lower levels of RANTES (P<0.0001) than NP. The absence of an increase in cytokine levels may be a reflection of the moderate changes in renal pathology observed in rats offered HP diets. These data in normal female rats suggest that protein intakes at the upper end of the AMDR are detrimental to kidney health in the long-term. While modest, this may have implications for individuals whose kidney function is compromised, especially given the prevalence of those unaware of their kidney disease within North America

1 edition published in 2017 in German and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A difficult decision( Visual )

1 edition published in 1996 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Coinciding with the goverment campaign to promote MMR vaccination for more than one million children, the findings of Dr. Andy Wakefield (Royal Free Hospital) have fuelled a counter-movement. Dr. Wakefield believes that the MMR vaccine could cause Crohn's disease in one in every hundred children receiving it. Set against this is the risk of severe effects from measles, including reduced life expectancy. Dr. Wakefield's findings are not supported by medical profession. However, his claim means that parents now have an even more difficult decision to make over the vaccination of their children

Does the MMR jab cause autism( Visual )

1 edition published in 2005 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This documentary looks at the pros and cons of the MMR vaccine and assesses the possibility of a link between the jab and the onset of autism. James Fitzpatrick is autistic, as is Lawrence McGowan. Their parents describe how the condition affects them. In the 1950s only 1 child in 2000 was diagnosed as having autism, whereas today 1 child in 200 is diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Rosemary Kessick's son William developed autism soon after the introduction of the MMR jab - they also developed a new, severe form of bowel disease. How could a vaccination cause autism? According to Andrew Wakefield, who first brought the possibility of a link into the public eye, it is the combination of 3 viruses given together that puts stress onto a child's body; he felt that the injections should be given singly. However, as these are not currently available on the NHS, after hearing of this research, people stopped vaccinating their children and incidences of measles began to rise in the community. Following Wakefield's research, a spate of investigations began into its validity and these investigations cast serious doubt over his initial findings. However, the parents of many autistic children still feel that the MMR jab has played a role in the onset of the condition
MMR can you decide?( Visual )

1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Should parents give their babies the single MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccination? Reports linking the jab with an increased number of cases of autism and chronic bowel disease in young children leave many parents in a dilemma; should they protect their children against one set of diseases at the risk of them developing another? Two undecided couples with baby daughters are shown six short films, half of which are generally in favour of the MMR jab and half are generally against it. Then they are invited to put questions to people featured in the films, which include parents and members of the medical profession. In the end both sets of parents seem in favour of giving their daughters separate single vaccinations
