Being different : an Indian challenge to western universalism by Rajiv Malhotra( Book )

10 editions published between 2011 and 2018 in English and held by 80 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"India is more than a nation state. It is also a unique civilization with philosophies and cosmologies that are markedly distinct from the dominant culture of our times -- the West. India's spiritual traditions spring from dharma which has no exact equivalent in Western frameworks ... Rajiv Malhotra addresses the challenge of a direct and honest engagement on differences, by reversing the gaze, repositioning India from being the observed to the observer and looking at the West from the dharmic point of view. In doing so, he challenges many hiterto unexamined beliefs that both sides hold about themselves and each other. He highlights that while unique historical revelations are the basis for Wester religions, dharma emphasizes self-realization in the body here and now. He also points out the integral unity that underpins dharma's metaphysics and contrasts this with Western thought and history as synthetic unity."--Jacket

Breaking India : western interventions in Dravidian and Dalit faultlines by Rajiv Malhotra( Book )

8 editions published between 2011 and 2016 in English and held by 47 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book focuses on the role of U.S. and European churches, academics, think-tanks, foundations, government and human rights groups in fostering separation of the identities of Dravidian and Dalit communities from the rest of India. It is the result of five years of research, and uses information obtained in the West about foreign funding of these Indian-based activities. The research tracked the money trails that start out claiming to be for education, human rights, empowerment training and leadership training, but end up in programs designed to produce angry youths who feel disenfranchised from Indian identity. The book reveals how outdated racial theories continue to provide academic frameworks and fuel the rhetoric that can trigger civil wars and genocides in developing countries. The Dravidian movement's 200-year history has such origins. Its latest manifestation is the Dravidian Christianity - movement that fabricates a political and cultural history to exploit old faultlines. The book explicitly names individuals and institutions, including prominent Western ones and their Indian affiliates. Its goal is to spark an honest debate on the extent to which human rights and other empowerment projects are cover-ups for these nefarious activities

Fundamentals of Process Mechanics and Process Innovation in Incremental Forming by Rajiv Malhotra( )

1 edition published in 2012 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The deformation mechanics of incremental forming was investigated using Finite Element Analysis with a damage based material model for predicting failure of the sheet metal during the forming process. In-depth analysis of the deformation mechanics revealed the basic deformation mechanisms that affect failure of the blank as well as the reasons for increased formability in incremental forming as compared to conventional forming. To improve the geometric accuracy of the formed components a process modification called Double Sided Incremental forming or DSIF was proposed, one major aspect of which was the design and fabrication of a new dedicated DSIF machine at Northwestern. Additionally, a new Accumulative DSIF (ADSIF) toolpath was proposed and it was shown that this toolpath resulted in significantly improved geometric accuracy, increased formability and enhanced process flexibility and formability. Robust toolpath planning methodologies that cater to the specific needs of the incremental forming process were created. These methodologies give the process designer the capability to automatically generate toolpaths based on the CAD geometry under user-specified constraints on geometric accuracy and surface finish, while simultaneously minimizing the forming time. A further process modification that was investigated was Multi-Pass Incremental Forming, in terms of creating toolpaths that prevented the geometric inaccuracy commonly observed in past literature. Analytical prediction methodologies were developed to predict this geometric inaccuracy and subsequently a new mixed toolpath methodology was proposed that minimized its occurrence
Software capacity planning : a methodology for a portfolio of high technology product development projects by Rajiv Malhotra( )

1 edition published in 2009 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

High technology product development projects make extensive use of engineering software during the product development process. The suite of engineering software tools deployed during product development represents a significant portion of the product development costs. The ability to forecast the engineering software license capacity required to support product development plans is crucial for budgeting, return on investment (ROI) calculations, contract negotiations with the software suppliers, and the provision of an IT infrastructure necessary to support the execution of the software tools. This research shows that the usage of engineering application software in high technology is cyclical due to the characteristics of high technology product development. A rigorous methodology to compute the cycle boundaries based on usage history is proposed. Information of the usage cycles is used to modify the existing trend forecast to increase the prediction accuracy of future usage predictions. Data of the current usage of the projects in execution is then used to forecast the overall software capacity needed to support all current projects. Cyclic usage patterns also predict how the usage is expected to change in the future for the time period under study. Usage data is collected for the three main projects concurrently in execution. Of the three, one of the projects goes through its full development cycle. In this research we show (a) a rigorous methodology using Fourier analysis to extract the cyclical variations of the project that goes through its full development cycle and (b) the application of the cyclical variations to a trend forecast to improve the quality of the forecast. Single project forecasts are then combined to generate an overall engineering software capacity forecast for the enterprise. All engineering software licenses for both project and nonproject work are shared by the enterprise from a central license pool. To determine the enterprise capacity requirement, the relationship between the key individual projects and the total usage is determined and used to predict future capacity
