In-Soon wants to go to Seoul with Ok-boon who is working in Seoul. Troubled by debts accumulated from constant poor catches of fish, In-soon's father, Chun-sam goes fishing in bad weather and never returns. Mr. Jang (Na Woong) wants to take In-soon as his concubine for the debt, but his son Cheol-soo brings In-soon to Seoul, saying that he will get her a job there. But, instead he takes her purity. Feeling painful remorse in the relationship with Cheol-soo, In-soon moves out with the help of Ok-boon. Feeling pessimistic about her condition, however, she becomes a bar girl (gisaeng).
