Staying OK by Amy Bjork Harris( Book )

87 editions published between 1985 and 2014 in 13 languages and held by 1,910 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This out-of-print book is the best of self-help books, making transactional analysis accessible to the lay reader. Because of the TA jargon, many people missed it's wonderful explanations of how and why we behave in the ways we do, and how to change. TA offers a wellness model, not an illness model, and Amy Bjork Harris outlines for us HOW to use the underlying principles of it to effect immediate changes and live an "I'm OK You're OK" life. There is no need for anyone to be remain "stuck" or in bad relationships with this book as a guide for his or her life! I'm torn between buying every used copy available to give for gifts, and leaving some for others to serendipitously discover this jewel!

Wind-tunnel investigation of an N.A.C.A. 23012 with various arrangements of slotted flaps by Carl J Wenzinger( Book )

4 editions published between 1939 and 1940 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A investigation has been made in the N.A.C.A. 7-by-10 foot wind tunnel of a large-chord N.A.C.A. 23012 airfoil with several arrangements of venetian-blind flaps to determine the aerodynamic section characteristics as affected by the over-all flap chord, the chords of the slats used to form the flap, the slat spacing, the number of slats, and the position of the flap with respect to the wing. Complete section data are given in the form of graphs for all the combinations tested. The optimum arrangement of the venetian-blind flap was a combination in which the flap was located near the wing trailing edge. These arrangements of the venetian-blind flap were superior to any flaps previously tested for producing lift and giving low drag coefficients at high lift coefficients. The wing with this flap, however, had very large pitching- moment coefficients. When operated as split flaps, the venetian-blind flaps were inferior to the simple split flap in producing lift
The Aerodynamic characteristics of a model wing having a split flap deflected downward and moved to the rear by Fred E Weick( Book )

2 editions published in 1932 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Wind tunnel tests were made on a model wing with three different sized split trailing-edged flaps. The flaps were formed in the lower rear portion of the wing and wer rotated downward about axes at their front edges. The lift, drag, and center of pressure were measured with the axis in its original position and also with it moved back in even steps to the trailing edge of the main wing, giving in effect an incres area. The split flaps when deflected about their original axis locations gave slightly higher maximum lfit coefficients than conventional trailing-edge flaps, and the lift coefficients were increased still further by moving the axes toward the rear. The higheest value was obtained with the largest flap hinged at 90 percent of the chord from the leading edge, was 2.52 as compared with 1.27 for the basic wing
Wind-tunnel investigation of an N.A.C.A. 23012 airfoil with two arrangements of a wide-chord slotted flap by Thomas A Harris( Book )

2 editions published between 1939 and 1940 in English and held by 7 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An investigation has been made in the N.A.C.A. 7- by 10-foot wind tunnel of a large-chord N.A.C.A. 23012 airfoil with several arrangements of a 40-percent-chord slotted flap to determine the section aerodynamic characteristics of the airfoil as affected by slot shape, flap location, and flap deflection. The flap positions for maximum lift, the polars for arrangements considered favorable for take-off and climb, and the complete section aerodynamic characteristics for selected optimum arrangements were determined. A discussion is given of the relative merits of the various arrangements. A comparison is made of slotted flaps of different chords on the N.A.C.A. 23012 airfoil

The Effects of equal-pressure fixed slots on the characteristics of a Clark Y aerofoil by Albert Sherman( Book )

1 edition published in 1934 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The results of this investigation show that the condition of no airl flow through the slot at the desired lift coefficient is attainable. The surface discontinuities produced by the slot openings have, however, such a large effect on the drag that such slots show little promise. An appreciable increase is produced in the maximum lift and the speed-range ratio can be as high as for the plain wing

Wind-tunnel tests of an NACA 23021 airfoil equipped with a slotted extensible and a plain extensible flap by Thomas A Harris( Book )

3 editions published in 1940 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The results showed that the basic airfoil gave the lowest profile-drag coefficients over the low lift range, the airfoil with the plain extensible flap gave the lowest profile-drag coefficients over the high lift range. The airfoil with the slotted extensivle flap had the same maximum lift at a flap deflection of 25 degrees as the airfoil with the plain extensible flap had at a flap deflection of 60 degrees. The results of comparisons of the airfoil pitching-moment coefficients obtained with the two types of flap are dependent upon the basis chosen for comparison
