Quantum probability for probabilists by Paul André Meyer( Book )

39 editions published between 1993 and 1995 in 4 languages and held by 590 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

These notes contain all the material accumulated over six years in Strasbourg to teach "Quantum Probability" to myself and to an audience of commutative probabilists. The text, a first version of which appeared in successive volumes of the Seminaire de Probabilite8, has been augmented and carefully rewritten, and translated into international English. Still, it remains true "Lecture Notes" material, and I have resisted suggestions to publish it as a monograph. Being a non-specialist, it is important for me to keep the moderate right to error one has in lectures. The origin of the text also explains the addition "for probabilists" in the title : though much of the material is accessible to the general public, I did not care to redefine Brownian motion or the Ito integral. More precisely than "Quantum Probability" , the main topic is "Quantum Stochastic Calculus" , a field which has recently got official recognition as 81825 in the Math

Lectures on boundary theory for Markov chains by Kai Lai Chung( Book )

14 editions published between 1968 and 1970 in English and held by 478 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The boundary theory as viewed in this book is a study of Markov chains with certain infinities (discontinuities that are not jumps) in the sample functions. In the first part a simple 'boundary' is set up by a direct, intuitive method and the basic relevant sample behavior is studied. The second, more substantial part of this book deals with the analysis of the chain in relation to its menimal part and its exits and entrances to and from the boundary. (Author)

Stochastic calculus in manifolds by Michel Emery( Book )

9 editions published in 1989 in English and held by 351 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Addressed to both pure and applied probabilitists, including graduate students, this text is a pedagogically-oriented introduction to the Schwartz-Meyer second-order geometry and its use in stochastic calculus. P.A. Meyer has contributed an appendix: "A short presentation of stochastic calculus" presenting the basis of stochastic calculus and thus making the book better accessible to non-probabilitists also. No prior knowledge of differential geometry is assumed of the reader: this is covered within the text to the extent. The general theory is presented only towards the end of the book, after the reader has been exposed to two particular instances - martingales and Brownian motions - in manifolds. The book also includes new material on non-confluence of martingales, s.d.e. from one manifold to another, approximation results for martingales, solutions to Stratonovich differential equations. Thus this book will prove very useful to specialists and non-specialists alike, as a self-contained introductory text or as a compact reference

In memoriam : Paul-Andre Meyer : Séminaire de probabilités XXXIX by Michel Emery( Book )

15 editions published in 2006 in English and French and held by 173 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The 39th volume of Séminaire de Probabilités is a tribute to the memory of Paul André Meyer. His life and achievements are recalled; homages are rendered by his friends and colleagues. This volume also contains mathematical contributions to classical and quantum stochastic calculus, the theory of processes, martingales and their applications to mathematical finance, Brownian motion. They provide an overview on the current trends of stochastic calculus

Séminaire de probabilités XXIII by J Azéma( Book )

15 editions published between 1980 and 1989 in 5 languages and held by 160 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Besides a number of papers on classical areas of research in probability such as martingale theory, Malliavin calculus and 2-parameter processes, this new volume of the Sminaire de Probabilits develops the following themes: - chaos representation for some new kinds of martingales, - quantum probability, - branching aspects on Brownian excursions, - Brownian motion on a set of rays

Probabilities and potential C : potential theory for discrete and continuous semigroups by Claude Dellacherie( Book )

22 editions published between 1978 and 2016 in 3 languages and held by 81 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This third volume of the monograph examines potential theory. The first chapter develops potential theory with respect to a single kernel (or discrete time semigroup). All the essential ideas of the theory are presented: excessive functions, reductions, sweeping, maximum principle. The second chapter begins with a study of the notion of reduction in the most general situation possible - the ''gambling house'' of Dubins and Savage. The beautiful results presented have never been made accessible to a wide public. These are then connected with the theory of sweeping with respect to a cone of continuous functions, and the integral representation in compact convex sets. The third chapter presents new or little-known results, with the aim of illustrating the effectiveness of capacitary methods in the most varied fields. The last two chapters are concerned with the theory of resolvents. The fourth and last part of the English edition will be devoted to the theory of Markov processes
