Campaign ad for Nixon/Lodge feat. Henry Cabot Lodge, 1960 ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1960 in English and held by 115 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Henry Cabot Lodge: "My fellow Americans, our responsibility is great; we must remain strong so that no nation will ever dare attack us. We must lead by our example, bringing about equality here at home as the Declaration of Independence promised so as to guarantee that the promise to the American Revolution--and not the menace of the Communist revolution--will be the way of the future. This is the time for judgement, for dedication; but above all for experience and talent in high places. The next president must have all of these qualities-- as does my running mate, Richard Nixon. Vote for Nixon and Lodge, November 8th. They understand what peace demands."Transcript
Interview with Henry Cabot Lodge, 1979 ( Visual )
1 edition published in 1983 in English and held by 89 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Henry Cabot Lodge was a United States Senator from Massachusetts, and Ambassador to South Vietnam from 1963 -- 1964. He viewed South Vietnam's president Ngo Dinh Diem as an ineffective leader, and tacitly supported the coup that overthrew him. Mr. Lodge discusses the circumstances of his appointment as Ambassador, and his impressions of Vietnam prior to going. He recounts the advice and instruction he received from other advisers, especially regarding Diem, and details his role in the events surrounding the coup. He describes Diem's personality and his own view of the war after the coup. -- taken from Open Vault WGBH Media Library and Archives
