Time series analysis : forecasting and control by
George E. P Box(
Book
)
131 editions published between 1944 and 2016 in 3 languages and held by 2,852 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The book is concerned with the building of models for discrete time series and dynamic systems. It describes in detail how such models may be used to obtain optimal forecasts and optimal control action. All the techniques are illustrated with examples using economic and industrial data. In Part 1, models for stationary and nonstationary time series are introduced, and their use in forecasting is discussed and exemplified. Part II is devoted to model building, and procedures for model identification, estimation, and checking which are then applied to the forecasting of seasonal time series. Part III is concerned with the building of transfer function models relating the input and output of a dynamic system computed by noise. In Part IV it is shown how transfer function and time series models may be used to design optimal feedback and feedforward control schemes. Part V contains an outline of computer programs useful in making the needed calculations and also includes charts and tables of value in identifying the models. (Author)

Bayesian inference in statistical analysis by
George E. P Box(
Book
)
44 editions published between 1963 and 2011 in English and Undetermined and held by 988 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The object of this book is to explore the use and relevance of Bayes' theorem to problems such as arise in scientific investigation in which inferences must be made concerning parameter values about which little is known a priori. A number of standard problems concerned with comparison of location and scale parameters are studied from a Bayesian viewpoint. (Author)

Statistics for experimenters : design, innovation, and discovery by
George E. P Box(
Book
)
18 editions published between 2005 and 2009 in English and held by 741 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The second edition of Statistics for Experimenters focuses on applications in the physical, engineering, biological, and social sciences. From the beginning, the book's source of ideas is the scientific method itself and the need of the investigator to make his or her research as effective as possible through proper choice and conduct of experiments and appropriate analysis of data. After a problem is stated, appropriate statistical methods of design and analysis are discussed. And frequently, examples are presented for which standard mathematical assumptions are wrong, thus forcing the reader's attention onto the essential precautions necessary in the conduct of the experiment to ensure valid conclusions

Estadística para investigadores : diseño, innovación y descubrimiento by
George E. P Box(
Book
)
6 editions published between 2008 and 2014 in Spanish and held by 38 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Statistical control by monitoring and adjustment by
George E. P Box(
Book
)
13 editions published between 2009 and 2011 in English and Undetermined and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Recent research has shown that monitoring techniques alone are inadequate for modern Statistical Process Control (SPC), and there exists a need for these techniques to be augmented by methods that indicate when occasional process adjustment is necessary. Statistical Control by Monitoring and Adjustment, Second Edition presents the relationship among these concepts and elementary ideas from Engineering Process Control (EPC), demonstrating how the powerful synergistic association between SPC and EPC can solve numerous problems that are frequently encountered in process monitoring and adjustment. The book begins with a discussion of SPC as it was originally conceived by Dr. Walter A. Shewhart and Dr. W. Edwards Deming. Subsequent chapters outline the basics of the new integration of SPC and EPC, which is not available in other related books. Thorough coverage of time series analysis for forecasting, process dynamics, and nonstationary models is also provided, and these sections have been carefully written so as to require only an elementary understanding of mathematics. Extensive graphical explanations and computational tables accompany the numerous examples that are provided throughout each chapter, and a helpful selection of problems and solutions further facilitates understanding."Publisher's description
