The key of Solomon the King (Clavicula Salomonis) by Solomon( Book )

51 editions published between 1888 and 2012 in English and Czech and held by 268 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book, translated and edited by the occultist Samuel Liddell Mathers (1854-1918) and published in 1889, introduced to Victorian England an important work of Renaissance esoterica. Purportedly the deathbed testament of King Solomon to his son, distilling all the angelic wisdom he received in his lifetime, it provided its readers with detailed instructions in conjuring, divining and summoning God's power to work 'experiments', or spells. For Mathers, it represented 'the fountain-head and storehouse of Qabalistical Magic' and formed a central part of his efforts to lend scholarly respectability to occult research. Mathers edited the text using available manuscripts at the British Museum, and it continues to offer authoritative and fascinating insight into both Renaissance occultism and its Victorian revival. Features of this edition include introductions from three distinct manuscripts, a table of the planetary hours and their magical names, and spells for producing invisibility, creating magic carpets and identifying thieves

The wisdom of the Kabbalah, as represented by chapters taken from the book Zohar by Dagobert D Runes( Book )

6 editions published between 1957 and 2001 in English and held by 121 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Explore the third of the great literatures in Judaism While many readers may have heard of Kabbalah in recent years, how many understand the origins and unique perspective of this collection of Jewish mystical beliefs? Handed down in the oral tradition for thousands of years and transcribed in fourteenth-century Spain, the Kabbalah is the classical expression of Jewish mysticism. This collection draws from the main work of Kabbalah & mdash;Sepher ha-Zohar, or The Book of Splendor & mdash;and offers insight into the great body of Hebrew literature that sprang up and grew parallel to the traditional writings of rabbinical literature. Written in the dialectic style as a commentary to the Torah, the Kabbalah examines man & rsquo;s mystical union with God in thoughts of wisdom and deeds of kindness through a symbol-laden examination of the God before creation. A mix of ethics and mysticism, Kabbalah & rsquo;s wisdom is frequently imparted through gematria, or a symbolic language based in numbers that correspond with the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. This ebook features a new introduction, image gallery, and index of the Hebrew alphabet

8 editions published between 2000 and 2017 in English and held by 56 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

How to make a magic carpet, become invisible, and find love are among the useful procedures detailed in this famous book of magic. Reputedly written by King Solomon himself, this major text of Western ritual magic contains chants, prayers, and instructions-both general and specific-on trafficking with the spirit world. Editor and translator S.L. MacGregor Mathers was a leader of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, an influential group of magicians and mystics whose members included Arthur Machen, W.B. Yeats, and Evelyn Underhill. MacGregor Mathers based this extraordinary book on seven manuscripts from the British Museum's collections. Its formulas for conjuring up spirits and performing rituals offer a rich source of study for students of comparative religion, psychology, and the history of ideas. For working occultists, this classic provides a valuable and important guide to the execution of magical ceremonies

3 editions published between 2006 and 2015 in English and held by 39 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A new and expanded second edition of The book of Abramelin, a modern classic of Magic since it was first published in English by Ibis Press in 2006. The new material includes copious footnotes and an extensive index. This is the first modern translation of this critical magical work since S.L. Macgregor Mathers's original translation over 100 years ago. Not only is the language updated, but Georg Dehn, the compiler and editor, has sourced his work from all extant manuscripts, whereas Mathers used just one. The result is a stunning new translation, which has already set the occult world abuzz. It includes voluminous important material left out of Mathers' work, including an entire Part 2 filled with magical recipes, important distinctions in the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel ritual and completes word grids that had been left half-completed by Mathers
