Proceedings of the sixth symposium on recent and fossil diatoms by Symposium on Recent and Fossil Diatoms( Book )

9 editions published in 1981 in English and held by 92 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Sixth Symposium on Recent and Fossil Diatoms was held in Budapest, 1-5 September 1980, and was arranged by the Hungarian Geological Society. During four days of the meeting 71 papers were presented covering almost the whole gamut of topics with which research on diatoms deals. 32 of these papers are included in this volume which contains those devoted to taxonomy, morphology, ecology and biology. They include a few that are concerned with fossil diatoms, but the papers on stratigraphy and paleoecology are appearing in a special number of Acta Geologica Hungaria

The dance of change : the challenges of sustaining momentum in learning organizations by Peter M Senge( Book )

4 editions published between 1999 and 2011 in English and held by 26 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Dance of Change, written for managers and executives at every level of an organisation, reveals how business leaders can work together to anticipate the challenges that profound change will ultimately force the organisation to face. Then, in a down-to-earth and clear format, readers will learn how to build the personal and organisational capabilities needed to meet those challenges. This book identifies universal challenges that organisations ultimately find themselves confronting, including 'Fear and Anxiety'; the need to diffuse learning across organisational boundaries; the ways in which assumptions built in to corporate measurement systems can handcuff learning initiatives; and the almost unavoidable misunderstandings between 'true believers' and nonbelievers in a company

Laser-beam propagation in high temperature hohlraum plasmas( )

1 edition published in 2005 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The authors have developed a new target platform to study propagation and backscatter of a frequency-doubled (2{omega}) laser beam through large-scale length plasmas at ignition-design densities, intensities and temperatures above 3 keV. The plasma is created by heating a gas filled hohlraum target with 37 heater beams that deliver a total energy of up to 15 kJ in a 1 ns square pulse. They measure a factor of two higher temperatures than in open geometry gasbag targets investigated earlier. This new temperature regime with a measured beam transmission of up to 80% suggests we can expect good laser coupling into ignition hohlraums at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) using 2{omega} light
A satellite ion-electron collector by Aeronomy Laboratory (U.S.)( Book )

3 editions published in 1968 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The effects of grid transparency, photoemission, and secondary emission on the currents measured by an ion-electron collector experiment flown on OGO I are examined in detail. The calculated grid transparencies agree with laboratory tests. The measured photocurrents as a function of angle of incidence i agree reasonably well with the calculated current assuming the yield is proportional to (cos i + sec i). Equations are derived for the effects or secondary emission on the background currents caused by particles with energies greater than 30 eV, from which the fluxes and yields may be at times be calculated. The energies of the primaries can be estimated from the calculated secondary yields
