Symmetries in elementary particle physics by Antonino Zichichi( Book )

31 editions published in 1965 in 3 languages and held by 362 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Symmetries in Elementary Particle Physics focuses on the processes, methodologies, advancements, and reactions in elementary particle physics. The selection first offers information on symmetry principles in particle physics and vector and axial currents under first order symmetry breaking. Discussions focus on restrictions following from charge conjugation; non-renormalization theorem for the vector current octet; second class amplitudes for leptonic decays; and discrete symmetry operations. The text then takes a look at methods for assigning spin and parity to baryon resonances and general

Recent Developments in Particle Symmetries focuses on the advancements of processes, technologies, reactions, transformations, and approaches in particle symmetries. The selection first offers information on higher symmetries and deviations from unitary symmetry, including S matrix and perturbation theory and bootstrap theory of octet enhancement. The text then ponders on broken symmetries and sum rules and difficulties of relativistic U(6). Discussions focus on covariant models, unitary, Coleman's theorems, saturation of commutation relations and particle multiplets, and exact internal symme

Topics include internal symmetry for leptons, algebra of the hadron vector current, leptons and hadrons, and the search for higher symmetries. The text then elaborates on algebras and weak interactions and relativistic quark model as representation of algebra. The book takes a look
International Seminar on Nuclear War and Planetary Emergencies : 26th session : "E. Majorana" Centre for Scientific Culture, Erice, Italy, 19-24 August 2001 by Richard C Ragaini( Book )

39 editions published between 2001 and 2016 in English and held by 187 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This was the first of a number of seminars dealing with one of the most complex of the new challenges in the 21st century, which call for the participation of a broad range of experts. Eminent economists, decision-makers, defence specialists, political analysts and sociologists presented their views and participated in the debates. In the wake of the dramatic event of 11 September 2001, the Afghanistan war and the resurgence of terrorist acts on all the continents, a host of issues were reconsidered and the role of science and technology was reassessed. The 27th Session was primarily oriented toward the definition of the new types of confrontation, and the identification of various factors and issues that gave rise to them and global trends

Electromagnetic Probes of Fundamental Physics : Erice, Sicily, Italy, 16-21 October 2001 by William J Marciano( Book )

6 editions published in 2003 in English and held by 49 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book constitutes the proceedings of a workshop which originated from a discussion with Professor A Zichichi in March 2001. The purpose of the meeting was to celebrate two developments at Brookhaven that, in both cases, are the outcome of more than a decade of preparation: the new muon g-2 measurement and the flood of data that started pouring out of RHIC. Bringing together people from these very different fields was an interesting challenge. But, at the time, when a small community of heavy ion physicists was beginning to define a program of electromagnetic interactions at RHIC and LHC, it seemed logical. The result is the white paper "Hot Topics in Ultra-peripheral Collisions". On Fermi's centennial, his original paper, developing for the first time the equivalent photon approximation, seemed to merit renewed attention. The paper has been translated into English from the Italian and included in the proceedings

7 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The book is aimed at assessing the capabilities of state-of-the-art optical techniques in elucidating the fundamental electronic and structural properties of semiconductor and metal surfaces, interfaces, thin layers, and layer structures, and assessing the usefulness of these techniques for optimization of high quality multilayer samples through feedback control during materials growth and processing. Particular emphasis is placed on the theory of non-linear optics and dynamical processes through the use of pump-probe techniques together with the search for new optical sources. Some new applications of scanning probe microscopy to material science and biological samples, dried and in vivo, with the use of different laser sources are also presented. Materials of special interest are silicon, semiconductor-metal interfaces, semiconductor and magnetic multi-layers and III-V compound semiconductors

1 edition published in 2007 in English and held by 0 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The?Superworld? is a subject of formidable interest for the immediate future of subnuclear physics to which Zichichi has contributed with a series of important papers of phenomenological and theoretical nature. These papers represent a must-have collection, not only for their originality but also for their complete analysis of expected scenarios on the basis of today?s knowledge of physics. The contributions are divided into two parts. The first deals with the problem of the convergence of the three fundamental forces of nature measured by the gauge couplings, with the onset of the energy thr
