Sally Wister's journal by Sarah Wister( Book )

21 editions published between 1902 and 1975 in English and held by 902 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

[Sally] "was the daughter of Daniel Wister, a prosperous merchant of Philadelphia, and was at this time being with her family in the retired farm house of the widow Hannah Foulke, on the Wissahickon, among the hills of Gwynedd, or North Wales, some fifteen miles away from the storm and stress of those anxious and exciting days in the war-blighted city. Here she stayed until the following July, when, the British having left Philadelphia, she, with the other members of the family, returned to their home in the city. During all this time, the journal was kept up, and occasional entries made, growing frequent and detailed as interesting events crowded one upon another, or brief and infrequent when 'a dull round of the same thing over again' made her declare, 'I shall hang up my pen until something offers worth relating"--Introduction

Quaker arrivals at Philadelphia, 1682-1750 : being a list of certificates of removal received at Philadelphia Monthly Meeting of Friends by Albert Cook Myers( Book )

26 editions published between 1900 and 2010 in English and held by 510 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This important volume consists of a chronological list of Quaker immigrants who registered, upon their arrival in Philadelphia, with the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting of Friends, by far the largest Quaker meeting in the province. It is based on the certificates of removal from the Meetings of Friends of which they were members in other countries and other colonies. The work is instrumental to the researcher interested in tracing early immigrants to Penn's Colony. A large proportion of the Quakers who immigrated into the Province of Pennsylvania took up residence in Philadelphia. Of the nineteen monthly meetings established in Pennsylvania prior to 1750, the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting easily ranks first in the number of certificates received. As a rule, the certificates give the following information: name, date of certificate, former place of residence, former meeting, date of receipt, and other details of quaint and useful interest."--Publisher description
William Penn's own account of the Lenni Lenape or Delaware Indians by William Penn( Book )

7 editions published between 1970 and 1983 in English and held by 289 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Klappentext: In 1683, ten months after his arrival in America, William Penn wrote this now-famous sketch of Lenni Lenape society. An acute observer, he was interested in all facets of Indian culture, and his account ranges from desriptions of the Indians ' daily lives through discussions of their religious and moral views. Penn interpreted their mode of living with understanding, sympathy and, on occasion, even wistful envy. This edition includes the texts of several early Indian treaties and related documents
