The novel The Eternal Philistine (1930) established Horváth's reputation as a sharp-witted critic of his time. This historical critical edition for the first time provides comprehensive insight into Horváth's creation process. Specially developed graphics show the ultramodern cut-and-paste technique of the author and demonstrate the extensive changes he made from the first versions (among them the novel Thirty-Six Hours) up to the final text version

Figaro lässt sich scheiden by Ödön von Horváth( )
31 editions published between 1959 and 2011 in 3 languages and held by 737 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Against the backdrop of a classic plot, Ödön von Horváth's comedy Figaro Gets a Divorce (written between 1934 and 1936) treats highly explosive topics of his time such as revolution and emigration. This text edition documents the complete creation process of the play, which is closely interwoven with the creation process of Don Juan Comes Back from the War. The differences between the "original version" in 13 scenes and the final version in 9 scenes show exemplarily how difficult it was for Horváth to comment on the current political developments directly
