The collected works on the medicinal discoveries in the New World by the Spanish physician and botanist, Nicolas were first published in Seville in 1576. The Lane Library copy is of the 1580 printing. This edition includes material included in Monardes Dos Libros (Seville, 1569), and in the Segunda Parte (Seville, 1571), which Monardes provided his first account of tobacco, then widely heralded as a panacea. The Tercera Parte and the Dialogo del Hierro were first printed in the collected edition of 1576. Widely translated, this work appeared in English in 1580 and 1596 under the title, Joyfull Newes out of the Newfound World.--J. Norman, 2006

7 editions published between 1601 and 1605 in Latin and held by 50 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"First edition of the sequel to Clusius' Rariorum plantarum historia (1601), containing further works not published in the former and mostly devoted to exotic plants and animals. The first six books contain new writings by Clusius, devoted to new species of plants, animals, and natural history from the new World, Southeast Asia, Africa, etc. This work is important for the number of new descriptions of non-European plants (and some animals) it contains, among which is the first published record and illustration of a South African plant. There is an extensive account of exotic seeds sent to him by various explorers. Books VII-X comprise Clusius, translations, with commentary, of da Orta, Acosta, Monardes and Belon."--University of Leiden Library
