Topics in differential and integral equations and operator theory by M. G Kreĭn( Book )

13 editions published in 1983 in 3 languages and held by 273 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In this volume three important papers of M.G. Krein appear for the first time in English translation. Each of them is a short self-contained monograph, each a masterpiece of exposition. Although two of them were written more than twenty years ago, the passage of time has not decreased their value. They are as fresh and vital as if they had been written only yesterday. These papers contain a wealth of ideas, and will serve as a source of stimulation and inspiration for experts and beginners alike. The first paper is dedicated to the theory of canonical linear differential equations, with periodic coefficients. It focuses on the study of linear Hamiltonian systems with bounded solutions which stay bounded under small perturbations of the system. The paper uses methods from operator theory in finite and infinite dimensional spaces and complex analysis. For an account of more recent literature which was generated by this paper see AMS Translations (2), Volume 93, 1970, pages 103-176 and Integral Equations and Operator Theory, Volume 5, Number 5, 1982, pages 718-757

M.G. Krein's lectures on entire operators by M. L Gorbachuk( Book )

2 editions published in 1997 in Hungarian and English and held by 160 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book is devoted to the theory of entire operators, founded one of the century's best known mathematicians, M.G. Krein. The theory lies at the junction of the spectral theory of Hermitian operators and the theory of analytic functions, harmoniously combining the methods of each. The purpose of the book is to show how various problems of classical and modern analysis can be looked at from the entire operator theory point of view. This is the first systematic presentation of basic concepts of Krein's theory and its applications. The present study of Krein's unpublished lectures and his works gives (over)due recognition to the unique approach he developed - an approach which for many years was not broadly known. The book is intended for researchers as well as graduate and postgraduate students interested in the spectral theory of operators, complex analysis, differential equations and extrapolation problems
