Yvonne ChoquetBruhat(
Book
)
43 editions published between 1985 and 2000 in English and held by 421 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Twelve problems have been added to the first edition; four of them are supplements to problems in the first edition. The others deal with issues that have become important, since the first edition of Volume II, in recent developments of various areas of physics. All the problems have their foundations in volume 1 of the 2Volume set Analysis, Manifolds and Physics. It would have been prohibitively expensive to insert the new problems at their respective places. They are grouped together at the end of this volume, their logical place is indicated by a number of parenthesis following the title

Relativistic fluid dynamics : lectures given at the 1st 1987 session of the Centro internazionale matematico estivo (C.I.M.E.)
held at Noto, Italy, May 25June 3, 1987 by
Angelo Marcello Anile(
Book
)
23 editions published between 1989 and 1990 in English and Undetermined and held by 331 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
In recent years the subject of relativistic fluid dynamics has found substantial applications in astrophysics and cosmology (theories of gravitational collapse, models of neutron stars, galaxy formation), as well as in plasma physics (relativistic fluids have been considered as models for relativistic particle beams) and nuclear physics (relativistic fluids are currently used in the analysis of the heavy ion reactions). Modern methods of analysis and differential geometry have now also been introduced. The International C.I.M.E. Course brought together expertise and interest from several areas (astrophysics, plasma physics, nuclear physics, mathematical methods) to create an appropriate arena for discussion and exchange of ideas. The main lecture courses introduced the most significant aspects of the subject and were delivered by leading specialists. The notes of these have been written up for this volume and constitute an uptodate and thorough treatment of these topics. Several contributions from the seminars on specialized topics of complementary interest to the courses are also included

Yvonne ChoquetBruhat(

12 editions published between 2014 and 2015 in English and Undetermined and held by 142 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
General Relativity is a beautiful geometric theory, simple in its mathematical formulation but leading to numerous consequences with striking physical interpretations: gravitational waves, black holes, cosmological models, and so on. This introductory textbook is written for mathematics students interested in physics and physics students interested in exact mathematical formulations (or for anyone with a scientific mind who is curious to know more of the world we live in), recent remarkable experimental and observational results which confirm the theory are clearly described and no specialised

Physics on manifolds : proceedings of the international colloquium in honour of Yvonne ChoquetBruhat, Paris, June 35, 1992 by
M Flato(

7 editions published in 1994 in English and held by 17 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The role of the geometry of manifolds in spacetime physics, and that of functional analysis in quantum mechanics and quantum field theory have become increasingly important. This is particularly true in the study of the global behaviour of solutions of differential systems on manifolds, and their implications to general relativity.
Yvonne ChoquetBruhat has contributed much to this exciting area of mathematical physics, and her work on the existence of solutions to Einstein's equations on differential manifolds of a general type has subsequently stimulated and inspired much important research. She has also played a pioneering role in the study of global problems, especially in gauge field theory and supergravity, and in the development of a theory of asymptotic gravitational and electromagnetic waves.
The various contributions appearing in this volume, authored by eminent scientists, illustrate the latest developments in the many areas of contemporary physics which have greatly benefited from ChoquetBruhat's work and influence.
For mathematical physicists with an interest in relativity, quantum mechanics and field theory.
Yvonne ChoquetBruhat(
Book
)
1 edition published in 2016 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Yvonne ChoquetBruhat was the first woman elevated to the French Academy of Sciences, and one of the greatest mathematicians and physicists of our times. She brings us an intimate tale that interweaves her personal life, her discoveries, and history at large. Her research activity spans a wide domain of knowledge, from the first mathematical proof of the existence of solutions to Einstein's relativistic theory of gravity, to the study of electromagnetic and gravitational waves in the vicinity of a black hole
