Brain edema; proceedings of the symposium, September 11-13, 1965, Vienna by Y Inaba( Book )

12 editions published in 1967 in 3 languages and held by 155 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Symposium on Brain Edema has been organized by the Osterreichische Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Neuropathologie and by the Problem Commission for Neuropathology of the World Federa tion of Neurology. We would like to express our thanks to Dr. L. van Bogaert, president of the W.F.N., for his great interest in the design of this conference and for his energetic support. One of the aims ofthe Problem Commission for Neuropathology has been to contribute to the advances in various problems which are becoming ripe for elucidation by experts in different fields. The idea of the Symposium on Brain Edema has as its background a compelling necessity to elucidate this subject which is clinically so important and neuropathologic ally so poorly understood. It was hoped that this could be achieved by a multidisciplinary approach involving a variety of aspects to be discussed and correlated. Brain edema, being an abnormal cerebral condition, belongs basically to the sphere of neuropathology, but to be successful in our endeavors we had to apply neuropathology in its most modern and widest terms. By this we understand that such neuropathology includes the study of all abnormal phenomena in the nervous tissue related to the structural alterations, and by "structural" we mean not only tissual or cellular ones but also changes on ultrastructural and molecular levels. Thus we needed close and integrated coopera tion of experts in fields such as neurohistology, histochemistry, electron microscopy, neurochemistry, and neurophysiology
Malignant lymphomas of the nervous system : international symposium by K Jellinger( )

10 editions published in 1975 in English and held by 100 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

More than 150 years have passed since involvement of the nervous system in leukemia was first reported by BURNS, while the possibility of the primary brain tumor derived from the lymphoreticular tissue was recognized much later. BAILEY in 1929 described such neoplasms under the term perithelial sarcoma. Later these tumors of the nervous system have been variously designated as "Perivascular of perithelial sarcomas, reticulum cell sarcomas or microgliomas", as controversy has evolved and still exists on the definition of this group of neoplasms and on the nature of their cells of origin. Much of the unfortunate confusion concerning the neoplastic lesions attributed to "microglia" and other derivations of the RE system arose because their close relationship to extra neural cells has been ignored. On the other hand, communication in the field of malignant lymphomas has become increasingly difficult because of the termino logic maze and conceptual diversities of traditional morphological classifica tions that have limited valid comparisons. Although at present we are still far from a precise recognition of the basic features of lymphoproliferative processes and from a fairly general agreement on the terminology of non-Hodgkin lymphomas, there is encouraging evidence recently of some enlightment on the nature of tumor cells that provides the basis for a reasonable and generally acceptable lymphoma classification
Symposium on Pathology of Axons and Axonal Flow by Reinhard L Friede( )

7 editions published in 1971 in English and held by 83 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Advances in axon biology are so rapid that every year provides us with a wealth of new facts and observations; hence, this conference cannot reasonable be expected to answer all questions. Rather, its purpose must be to take stock of the available data, to communicate advances and new concepts, and to help us to formulate the goals and approaches for future research. To this end, ample time was allotted during the symposium for discussion, but these exchanges of thoughts cannot, unfortunately, be included in the printed text. We hope that publication of the presentations will provide a valuable source of information on the present state of knowledge on this most important borderland between neuro pathology, neurophysiology and neurochemistry. We would like to express our gratitude to all participants of the symposium for contributing their efforts and for their enthusiasm. We are also indebted to Springer Verlag and Bergmann Verlag for publication of the symposium and for their appreciation of the editorial concerns
Symposium on Presenile Spongy Encephalopathies. Symposium über präsenile spongiöse Encephalopathien by G. L Guazzi( )

7 editions published in 1967 in 3 languages and held by 77 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Symposium on Paramyloidoses. Symposium concernant les paramyloïdoses. Symposium über die Paramyloidosen by World Federation of Neurology( )

6 editions published in 1963 in 3 languages and held by 75 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
