Topics in the theory of numbers by Paul Erdős ( Book )
13 editions published between 2002 and 2003 in English and held by 511 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This unique book is a guided tour through number theory. While most introductions to number theory provide a systematic and exhaustive treatment of the subject, the authors have chosen instead to illustrate the many varied subjects by associating recent discoveries, interesting methods, and unsolved problems. In particular, we read about combinatorial problems in number theory, a branch of mathematics cofounded and popularized by Paul Erdos. Janos Suranyi's vast teaching experience successfully complements Paul Erdos's ability to initiate new directions of research by suggesting new problems and approaches. This book will surely arouse the interest of the student and the teacher alike."--BOOK JACKET
Combinatorial set theory by Neil H Williams ( Book )
16 editions published between 1976 and 1984 in English and held by 478 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This work presents the most important combinatorial ideas in partition calculus and discusses ordinary partition relations for cardinals without the assumption of the generalized continuum hypothesis. A separate section of the book describes the main partition symbols scattered in the literature. A chapter on the applications of the combinatorial methods in partition calculus includes a section on topology with Arhangel'skii's famous result that a first countable compact Hausdorff space has cardinality, at most continuum. Several sections on set mappings are included as well as an account of recent inequalities for cardinal powers that were obtained in the wake of Silver's breakthrough result saying that the continuum hypothesis can not first fail at a singular cardinal of uncountable cofinality

Combinatorics has not been an established branch of mathematics for very long: the last quarter of a century has seen an explosive growth in the subject. This growth has been largely due to the doyen of combinatorialists, Paul Erdos, whose penetrating insight and insatiable curiosity has provided a huge stimulus for workers in the field. There is hardly any branch of combinatorics that has not been greatly enriched by his ideas. This volume is dedicated to Paul Erdos on the occasion of his seventy-fifth birthday
The mathematics of Paul Erdös by Ronald L Graham ( Book )
5 editions published between 1996 and 2013 in English and held by 280 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This is the most comprehensive survey of the mathematical life of the legendary Paul Erdös, one of the most versatile and prolific mathematicians of our time. For the first time, all the main areas of Erdös' research are covered in a single project. Because of overwhelming response from the mathematical community, the project now occupies over 900 pages, arranged into two volumes. These volumes contain both high level research articles as well as "key" articles which survey some of the cornerstones of Erdös' work, each written by a leading world specialist in the field. A special chapter "Early Days", rare photographs, and art related to Erdös complement this striking collection. A unique contribution is the bibliography on Erdös' publications: the most comprehensive ever published

"A man with no home and no job, Paul Erdős was the most prolific mathematician who ever lived. Universally revered among mathematicians, Erdős, who was born in Hungary and died in 1996, was a wandering genius who eschewed the traditional trappings of success ... [this videocassette is] a documentary filmed in England, Hungary, Poland and the United States over four years, presents Erdős' mathematical quest in its personal and philosophical dimensions, and the tragic historical events that molded his life"--Container
