Values of non-atomic games by Robert J Aumann( Book )

25 editions published between 1969 and 2015 in English and Russian and held by 544 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A non-atomic game is a special kind of infinite-person game, in which no individual player has significance; such games have recently attracted attention as models for mass phenomena in economics. In this Memorandum, the characteristic function of the game is extended to a space that includes not only the ordinary coalitions (measurable sets) of players, but also certain 'ideal' coalitions--intuitively, sets to which a player can 'belong' at any intensity between 0 and 1. The value of the game is then redefined in terms of the derivatives of this extended function, following the principle that a player's value is based upon his incremental worth to coalitions. The close relation between this definition and those previously considered is established. (Author)
The Shapley value : essays in honor of Lloyd S. Shapley by Alvin E Roth( Book )

15 editions published between 1988 and 2008 in English and held by 338 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Composed in honour of the sixty-fifth birthday of Lloyd Shapley, this volume makes accessible the large body of work that has grown out of Shapley's seminal 1953 paper. Each of the twenty essays concerns some aspect of the Shapley value. Three of the chapters are reprints of the 'ancestral' papers: Chapter 2 is Shapley's original 1953 paper defining the value; Chapter 3 is the 1954 paper by Shapley and Shubik applying the value to voting models; and chapter 19 is Shapley's 1969 paper defining a value for games without transferable utility. The other seventeen chapters were contributed especially for this volume. The first chapter introduces the subject and the other essays in the volume, and contains a brief account of a few of Shapley's other major contributions to game theory. The other chapters cover the reformulations, interpretations and generalizations that have been inspired by the Shapley value, and its applications to the study of coalition formulation, to the organization of large markets, to problems of cost allocation, and to the study of games in which utility is not transferable
Geometry of moment spaces by Samuel Karlin( Book )

34 editions published between 1951 and 1972 in 3 languages and held by 211 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This paper presents a natural geometrical approach to the theory of reduced moment spaces and its application to orthogonal polynomials. The work is concerned primarily with distribution functions on a finite interval
Stochastic games and related topics : in honor of Professor L.S. Shapley by T. E. S Raghavan( Book )

7 editions published between 1990 and 1991 in English and held by 161 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Competitive outcomes in the cores of market games by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

6 editions published between 1970 and 1975 in English and held by 112 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The competitive outcomes of an economic system are known, under quite general conditions, always to lie in the core of the associated cooperative game. It is shown here that every 'market game' (i.e., one that arises from an exchange economy with money) can be represented by a 'direct market' whose competitive outcomes completely fill the core. It is also shown that it can be represented by a market having any given core outcome as its unique competitive outcome, or, more generally, having any given compact convex subset of the core as its full set of competitive outcomes
Statistics, probability, and game theory : papers in honor of David Blackwell( Book )

10 editions published between 1996 and 2008 in English and held by 110 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This e-book is the product of Project Euclid and its mission to advance scholarly communication in the field of theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics. Project Euclid was developed and deployed by the Cornell University Library and is jointly managed by Cornell and the Duke University Press
On cores and indivisibility by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

8 editions published between 1972 and 1975 in English and held by 103 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

On balanced games without side payments by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

12 editions published between 1969 and 1973 in English and held by 101 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In the paper the author presents a new proof of a basic theorem of game theory, due to Scarf, which states that every balanced game without side payments has a nonempty core. The main tool is a generalization of Sperner's celebrated topological lemma concerning triangulations of the simplex
Game theory in economics by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

6 editions published between 1971 and 1974 in English and held by 94 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Trade using one commodity as a means of payment by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

5 editions published between 1975 and 1977 in English and held by 82 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

On the accessibility of fixed points by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

4 editions published in 1981 in English and held by 77 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A note on the Lemke-Howson algorithm by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

5 editions published between 1974 and 1975 in English and held by 66 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Lemke-Howson algorithm for bimatrix games provides both an elementary proof of the existence of equilibrium points and an efficient computational method for finding at least one equilibrium point. The first half of this report presents a geometrical view of the algorithm that makes its operation especially easy to visualize. Several illustrations are given, including Wilson's example of 'inaccessible' equilibrium points. The second half presents an orientation theory for the equilibrium points of (nondegenerate) bimatrix games and the Lemke-Howson paths that interconnect them; in particular, it is shown that there is always one more 'negative' than 'positive' equilibrium point
An example of a slow-converging core. Prepared for the National Science Foundations by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

4 editions published between 1974 and 1975 in English and held by 65 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

An example of a trading economy with three competitive equilibria by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

4 editions published between 1970 and 1977 in English and held by 65 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This brief note is presented as a convenience for those who wish to see what an actual numerical example of a smooth trading economy with multiple equilibria looks like in terms of an Edgeworth box diagram. The authors present a two trader two commodity example in terms of a fanciful exchange between two kinds of money
Cardinal utility from intensity comparisons by Lloyd S Shapley( Book )

5 editions published in 1975 in English and held by 63 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A proof that a cardinal utility function is determined if changes between outcomes, as well as the outcomes themselves, can be ranked in order of desirability. It is assumed that a numerical ordinal utility function with convex range is already given, and that the ranking of changes is continuous and enjoys a certain 'crossover' property that is characteristic of difference comparisons. Values of large games, II : oceanic games by John W Milnor( Book )

6 editions published between 1961 and 1977 in English and held by 63 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Values of large games, I : a limit theorem by Norman Zalmon Shapiro( Book )
