Positron spectrum from muon decay by John Peoples( Book )

1 edition published in 1966 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The positron spectrum from the decay of positive muons was studied using a sonic spark chamber spectrometer. An analysis of 1.1 million events gave a value for the Michel parameter of 0.750 = 0.003. This number includes internal radiative corrections and is to be compared directly with the 0.750 predicted by the V-A theory. An upper limit on the mass of the muon neutrino was set at 1.5 MeV. Performance of the SLD Warm Iron Calorimeter pre-prototype( )

1 edition published in 1985 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The performance of a pre-prototype of the SLD Warm Iron Calorimeter (WIC) build with proportional tube cathode pad readout has been studied. The calorimeter was found to have an average resolution of 36.7 +- 0.2% for muons at 2.0, 5.0 and 10.5 GeV and 81 +- 2%/.sqrt. E for pion showers at 5.0 and 10.5 GeV. The mean energy found for the pion showers was consistent with a linear dependence on energy within these standard deviations. 4 refs., 6 figs., 3 tabs
Experimental survey of strange particle decays( )

2 editions published in 1964 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

It is the aim of these three lectures to summarize the present experimental knowledge concerning the decays of the strange particles
Saturation in dual radiation action( )

1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The development of the principles of the theory of dual radiation action is reviewed and a treatment of saturation is given. Although the relationship derived cannot be evaluated in general in closed form, approximations may be obtained that apply to a range of conditions. 20 refs
A study of the annihilations of antiprotons at rest in hydrogen into three neutral pions by Thomas Kozlowski( Book )

Research in neutron velocity spectroscopy. Final report. [Summaries of research activities at Columbia Univ]( )

1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A brief summary of papers published since the last progress report (June 1974) is presented. The research represents contributions to neutron resonance spectroscopy below 100 keV. (SDF)
Measurement of energy and charged particle emission in the central rapidity region from O + A and p + A collisions at 14. 5 GeV( )

1 edition published in 1987 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The first data from a 160 beam of total energy 232 GeV at the BNL Tandem-AGS are discussed. Preliminary results from a ²⁸Si beam of total energy 406 GeV are also shown. The full complement of E-802, including a magnetic spectrometer, was used for the ²⁸Si measurement. A different experimental arrangement was used for 160. Comparison measurements with proton beams are presented for both configurations. 12 refs., 12 figs

A diffusion cloud chamber study of very slow mesons. ii. beta decay of the muon( )

1 edition published in 1955 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The spectrum of electrons arising from the decay of the negative mu meson has been determined. The muons are arrested in the gas of a high pressure hydrogen filled diffusion cloud chamber. The momenta of the decay electrons are determined from their curvature in a magnetic field of 7750 gauss. The spectrum of 415 electrons has been analyzed according to the theory of Michel. The shape parameter, [rho], is found to be 0.64 ± .10. The significance of this result in terms of the beta interaction is discussed

Theory of Multiple Coulomb Scattering from Extended Nuclei( )

1 edition published in 1954 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Two independent methods are described for calculating the multiple scattering distribution for projected angle scattering resulting when very high energy charged particles traverse a thick scatterer. The single scattering law for projected angle scattering is taken to be the Rutherford scattering law for projected angle scattering modified at small angles by electron shielding and at large angles by a nuclear form factor F{sub n}([phi]/[phi]{sub o}) which gives the effect of the finite nuclear size. The calculations can be carried through for any reasonable choice of F{sub n} and have been carried through for two suggested choices of F{sub n} for the examples of fast [mu]-meson scattering in 2 cm and 5 cm thick lead slabs, with good agreement for the two methods of calculation. The results are compared with the theories of Moliere and Olbert
