Chiefly correspondence (1912-1928) between Ellyson and his wife, Helen Mildred Lewis Glenn Ellyson; together with other family correspondence and a biographical file. Ellyson's letters reflect his interest in aviation and its value to the navy; and his duty in the Caribbean during periods of civil unrest in Haiti and Santo Domingo (Hispaniola) and in the Adriatic during the Dalmatian boundary dispute between Italy and Yugoslavia and the evacuation of Americans from Odessa and Sevastopol during the Russian civil war. Includes condolence letters written to family members after Ellyson's death in a plane crash in 1928
