Like the 1771 Passion, the 1779 St. Luke Passion is a pasticcio crafted by Bach mostly from pre-existing works by other composers. It uses recitatives originally by Telemann to convey the biblical narrative and weaves in expressive movements borrowed and adapted by Bach to fit the context of the gospel narrative

The Virtual Ear: Deducing Transducer Function in the Drosophila Ear by Qianhao Lu( )

2 editions published between 2011 and 2012 in English and held by 14 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mechano-electrical transduction constitutes the central part of the hearing process. Recent studies of vertebrate and invertebrates hearing systems have shed light on the functional workings of the transduction machinery, yet most of the proteins that form this machinery continue to hide and their functional roles remain unclear. The antennal hearing organ of Drosophila melanogaster is an emerging model system to study hearing mechanisms in vivo: recently, a physical / mathematical framework that describes the fly’s auditory performance has been proposed, which represents the Drosophila ear by two opposed populations of transduction modules that couple to harmonic oscillator that corresponds to the fly’s antennal sound receiver. The use of functional (as opposed to genetic) components in this model can be used to assess how molecular transducer components influence the macroscopic performance of an ear. The virtual ear, an in silico implementation of the Drosophila hearing organ, aims at being a high-throughput, easy-to-use tool to analyze auditory performance in mutant and control as well as a framework for the in silico testing of possible phenotypes that result from molecular parameter changes
