Scena: On the banks of the Rhine in the 16th century. A young man, betrothed to the daughter of the local Margrave, secretly falls in love with a beautiful maiden he meets along the Rhine. Finally telling her that he is already spoken for, he leaves her broken hearted disolving into a deep swoon. When she awakens, Rhine Nymphs tell her that she can be avenged by marrying the Rhinke King and that she will become even more beautiful thus causing pangs of new-found love in her lost lover. Upon diving into the Rhine, she emerges the dazzling Rhine siren of legend: Loreley. Combing her long golden hair while sitting on a high rock in the middle of the Rhine, she awaits her revenge. - TNH cataloging
