Several materials in service are subjected to cyclic loading. The presence of variable and repead efforts leads generally to the fatigue of structures. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the behavior and the evolution of damage of materials under such loads. On the other hand, the mechanical behavior of polycrystalline materials in cyclic plasticity is mostly by employing phenomenological approaches. Such models are unable to incorporate the physical mechanisms of the deformation which take place at the microscopic scale. The present work is aimed to consider the evolution of microscopic parameters which are responsible for the macroscopic response. This is only possible when a micromechanical approach is used. In the framework of the Taylor-Lin model, it was shown that the tendencies of experimental phenomena in cyclic plasticity are well reproduced. For the case of proportional cyclic paths the Taylor-Lin model is able to reproduce the following phenomena : Bauschinger effect, cyclic hardening, cyclic softening, independence of the stress amplitude on the mean deformation of the cycle, finally, the sticking of a little cycle to the stabilised one. Moreover, for the case of multiaxial cyclic paths, the model correctly predict a higher hardening, as compared to the proportional loading case, presenting maximum hardening when the phase angle is 90° between the loading for simultaneous tension and torsion. One of the most interesting result concerning the evolution of the microstructure is the diminution of active slip systems near to one, which can be correlated to the occurence of the persistent slip bands observed experimentally at small cycle amplitudes
