Frappé par la façon dont Iribe dessine les femmes, Paul Poiret fait appel à lui pour réaliser cet album "représentant mes robes, et imprimé sur très beau papier d'Arches ou de Hollande, [qui] serait adressé à titre d'hommage à toutes les grandes dames du monde entier". En totale opposition avec les gravures de mode de l'époque, Iribe dessine les modèles de côté ou de dos. Autre originalité, seuls les personnages féminins bénéficient de la couleur, donnant ainsi à leurs vêtements un relief saisissant. Les couleurs sont appliquées au pochoir, procédé utilisé depuis fort longtemps dans l'imagerie d'Epinal et perfectionné par Jean Saudé vers 1895. Le décor entourant les modèles est dessiné à la plume avec minutie : tableaux, miroirs, petits meubles et fenêtres laissant apercevoir une nuit étoilée. Il imite les gravures au burin. Le retentissement de la publication de cet album est considérable. Il marque assurément une rupture avec les gravures de mode de l'époque et constitue le point de départ d'un style nouveau. "La gazette du bon ton", "Le journal des dames et des modes", "Modes et manières d'aujourd'hui" vont naître de ce regard inédit

She promises to save him, however great his fault. Essex falls in love with the Countess of Nottingham, and the affair is discovered by her husband, who informs the queen. Angry, she orders that Essex be arrested, but regrets her decision. She begs the countess to persuade Essex to return the ring, but Nottingham discovers his wife on her way to the queen with the ring, and throws it into the Thames. The queen, thinking that Essex is too proud to ask for clemency, proceeds with the execution. She spends the rest of her life in sorrow and regret
