Welt am Draht = World on a wire by Rainer Werner Fassbinder( Visual )

7 editions published between 1973 and 2012 in German and held by 468 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A dystopic science-fiction epic, World on a Wire is German wunderkind Rainer Werner Fassbinder's gloriously cracked, boundlessly inventive take on future paranoia. With dashes of Kubrick, Vonnegut, and Dick, but a flavor entirely his own, Fassbinder tells the noir-spiked tale of reluctant action hero Fred Stiller (Klaus Lowitsch), a cybernetics engineer who uncovers a massive corporate and governmental conspiracy. At risk? Our entire (virtual) reality as we know it. This long unseen three-and-a-half-hour labyrinth is a satiric and surreal look at the weird world of tomorrow from one of cinema's kinkiest geniuses

Playing to an increasingly diminishing fan following, Veronika turns to drugs to cushion her against the cruelties of life. A well-meaning sportswriter tries to save Veronika from herself, sacrificing his own personal happiness - and the life of his girlfriend Cornelia Froeboess - in the process. In einem Jahr mit 13 Monden: Elvira Weishaupt began life as Erwin. After growing up in an orphanage, Erwin was apprenticed to a butcher. As an adult, Erwin had fallen in love with Anton, the manager of the slaughterhouse where he worked. Anton's offhand comment "too bad you're not a girl" sent Erwin to Casablanca to become Elvira. Upon her return, however, Anton rejects Elvira. Convincing neither as a man nor as a woman, to others or to herself, she begins a journey into her past, revisiting old haunts, trying to re-or de-construct the person she's become. In a Year of 13 Moons is a distilled, brutal, unrelenting, deeply personal, and emotionally honest exposition into the human existential quest for love, acceptance, spiritual passion, and inclusion
