This publication is a guide to the holdings and locations of 129 newspaper and periodical titles relating to Hispanic American history and culture which were received before August 1979 at the library of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin and at the libraries of the University of Wisconsin at Madison. It includes older titles which have ceased publication as well as titles still being published. The scope of the guide is broad, including literary, political, and historical journals, as well as newspapers and feature magazines of the Hispanic American community. An introduction to the guide, presented in English and in Spanish, recounts the history of the collections. A detailed explanation of the guide's organization and entry format is also presented. Accompanying the union list are: a list of sources for the purchase of microfilm copies of the publications listed; a list of libraries whose holdings are included in the guide; an alphabetical list of the newspaper and periodical titles covered by the guide; and geographic, name, subject, and chronological indexes to the listings.
