Visual perception by M. C Grové( Visual )

in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Dr. Hadley Cantril discusses his investigations at the Perception Demonstration Center at Princeton University of the effects of some of our assumptions on what we see. Shows a distorted room that looks normal, with illustrations that include a rotating trapezoid that appears to oscillate, balloons that seem to move when in reality they are being inflated and deflated, or illuminated and darkened

THE INFRARED SPECTRA AND STRUCTURES OF THE CRYSTALLINE PHASES OF CH4 AND CD4( Book )

1 edition published in 1961 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

IR spectra of CH4 and CD4, in the region of the stretching and bending modes were obtained in all of their crystalline phases between 5 K and 40 K. The spectra of dilute solutions of CH4 and CD4 in one another were studied through the same temperature range. The spectra of the dilute solutions consist of single sharp lines for both fundamentals, demonstrating that the barriers to molecular rotation are high in all the phases. The fine structure observed in the low temperature phases of pure crystals is inconsistent with any of the structural models heretofore proposed but 2 models for phase II are suggested which are consistent with the spectra and which show efficient packing. Phase III of CD4 is probably complex and of low symmetry. Phase I is probably disordered. (Author)
Alleviation of jet aircraft noise near airports : a report by Donald F Hornig( Book )

1 edition published in 1966 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Fundamental processess in gaseous reactions( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Fundamental processes in gas phase reactions (primarily decomposition and recombination reactions of simple diatomic and triatomic molecules) were studied using shock wave techniques. The investigation of energy transfer processes covered more areas: laser chemistry and vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy. A vacuum UV monochromator was designed and constructed in the laboratory, and a quadrupole mass spectrometer added later for use in studying pre-ionization and fragmentation of molecules which had absorbed high energy light. Laser photochemistry was shown to be an interesting and powerful technique for exciting molecules, and several two-photon absorptions leading to chemical reactions were demonstrated. (Author)
