[Dublin, NH], to Clara Clemens by Samuel Langhorne Clemens( )

1 edition published in 1905 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

An evocative letter from Clemens to his daughter, Clara, who was ill and in the care of their long time servant, Katy Leary. Clemens writes to cheer his daughter, informing her that he has completed "A Horse's Tale," and that he is "satisfied with it, though it was not manufactured calmly but with an eight day drive & rush -- a dangerous process." The preceding part of the letter is supplemented by a postscript, dated October 3rd, and of equal length, describing recent events and the magnificent fall foliage in Dublin, NH, which so impresses Clemens that, he tells her, "I have to shut my eyes to shave, this painted dream distracts my hand & threatens my throat."
