Fabio Biondi presented here with Europa Galante and a handpicked ensemble of singers (including with mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg) a rousing recording of late Handel opera Imeneo. You can hear the work in the Dublin version of 1742, where it came as Serenata entitled Hymen performed. For this version, the composer added a few new arias and shortened the libretto carefully. Fabio Biondi brings here again all his experience and his enthusiasm for baroque music. As a result, we hear an engaging and very successful interpretation of these maligned unjustly neglected and Handel opera

A presentation of Handel's opera, a complex love story set in Persia. The plot revolves around the competition between Serse, King of Persia, and his brother, Arsamene, over the love of Romilda. Although Serse is betrothed to the princess Amastre, he falls in love with Romilda and attempts to win her away from his brother. Romilda's sister, Atalanta, also in love with Arsamene, thickens the plot by purposely misleading the thwarted lovers in the hope of gaining Arsamene for herself
