"Like the previous editions, this substantially revised and updated Third Edition has been written to provide readers with a solid understanding of the general chemical principles underlying natural water chemistry: chemical thermodynamics and kinetics, acids and bases, dissolved carbon dioxide, atmosphere-water interactions, metal ions in aqueous solutions, precipitation and dissolution, oxidation and reduction, equilibria, and the solid-solution interface." "To help the reader grasp the essential elements of aquatic chemistry, the authors illustrate key principles with numerous quantitative examples and a full range of problem-solving methods, including algebraic, graphical, and numerical methods based on digital computation." "Designed for both reference as well as classroom use, Aquatic Chemistry, in this new edition, remains the authoritative resource on the fundamentals of natural water chemistry."--Jacket

Chemistry of aquatic systems : local and global perspectives ( Book )
2 editions published in 1994 in English and held by 137 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Aquatic systems play a salient role in the complex processes of energy and matter exchange between the geosphere and the atmosphere. Furthermore, the inextricable links between the water cycle, the geosphere and the atmosphere ensure that apparently localized environmental problems are increasingly seen to have impacts in other parts of the world. In order to identify local-to-global scale variables associated with environmental changes, one must concentrate on the recognition of processes, rather than placing a continued reliance on the monitoring of state variables. But in heterogeneous aquatic systems, small-scale aspects of a process under observation may not be summed directly to obtain regional estimates
Aquatische Chemie : Einführung in die Chemie natürlicher Gewässer by Laura Sigg ( Book )
4 editions published in 2011 in German and held by 61 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
