Situated within the Russian partition, in the village of Soplicowo, Pan Tadeusz is about the country estate of the Soplica clan. Pan Tadeusz recounts the story of two feuding noble families, and the love between Tadeusz Soplica (the title character) of one family, and Zosia of the other. Another sub-plot involves a spontaneous revolt of the local inhabitants against the occupying Russian garrison. Since Mickiewicz published his poem as an exile in Paris, he was free of the Russian censors to talk openly about the occupation

7 editions published between 1885 and 1988 in 4 languages and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Třebaže v dramatickém zápase podlehne orthodoxnímu rabínovi Todrosovi a jeho fanatickým přívržencům, srdce lidu si získal dokonale a svým příkladem vyvolává v život další utajené pokrokové síly

4 editions published between 1883 and 1991 in Polish and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Národ Wenedů, ač početnější a duchovně i fysicky zdatnější než Lechité, byl poražen, neboť neměl víru vevlastní síluavbudoucnost. Vůdčí idea díla je vtělena do přísné postavy démonické věštkyně Rozy Wenedy. Jejími ústy vyjadřuje básník svou ideologii - zotročený, porobený lid může osvobodit nikoli snění, nýbrž pevná vůle a čin
