6 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 842 WorldCat member libraries worldwide This is the second of a threevolume set collecting the original and nowclassic works in topology written during the 1950s1960s. The original methods and constructions from these works are properly documented for the first time in this book. No existing book covers the beautiful ensemble of methods created in topology starting from approximately 1950, that is, from Serre's celebrated "singular homologies of fiber spaces."

Topology I : general survey
by S. P Novikov
(
Book
)
15 editions published between 1991 and 1996 in English and held by 274 WorldCat member libraries worldwide This book constitutes nothing less than an uptodate survey of the whole field of topology (with the exception of "general (settheoretic) topology"), or, in the words of Novikov himself, of what was termed at the end of the 19th century "Analysis Situs", and subsequently diversified into the various subfields of combinatorial, algebraic, differential, homotopic, and geometric topology. The book gives an overview of these subfields, beginning with the elements and proceeding right up to the present frontiers of research. Thus one finds here the whole range of topological concepts from fibre spaces (Chap.2), CWcomplexes, homology and homotopy, through bordism theory and Ktheory to the AdamsNovikov spectral sequence (Chap.3), and in Chapter 4 an exhaustive (but necessarily concentrated) survey of the theory of manifolds. An appendix sketching the recent impressive developments in the theory of knots and links and lowdimensional topology generally, brings the survey right up to the present. This work represents the flagship, as it were, in whose wake follow more detailed surveys of the various subfields, by various authors

24 editions published between 1985 and 2001 in English and held by 168 WorldCat member libraries worldwide Dynamical Systems IV Symplectic Geometry and its Applications by V.I. Arnol'd, B.A. Dubrovin, A.B. Givental', A.A. Kirillov, I.M. Krichever, and S.P. Novikov From the reviews of the first edition: " ... In general the articles in this book are well written in a style that enables one to grasp the ideas. The actual style is a readable mix of the important results, outlines of proofs and complete proofs when it does not take too long together with readable explanations of what is going on. Also very useful are the large lists of references which are important not only for their mathematical content but also because the references given also contain articles in the Soviet literature which may not be familiar or possibly accessible to readers." New Zealand Math. Society Newsletter 1991 " ... Here, as well as elsewhere in this Encyclopaedia, a wealth of material is displayed for us, too much to even indicate in a review. ... Your reviewer was very impressed by the contents of both volumes (EMS 2 and 4), recommending them without any restriction. As far as he could judge, most presentations seem fairly complete and, moreover, they are usually written by the experts in the field. ..." Medelingen van het Wiskundig genootshap 1992!
